Overview

The Eureka Olympus 75 Neo Hi-speed has pulled out every stop to live up to its Grecian namesake. The titanic design begins with a towering footprint and a 3.5-pound bean capacity (though smaller hoppers are available). State-of-the-art 75 millimeter flat burrs in hardened steel pulverize beans at speeds impressive even against grinders double its price. Eureka has kept their standard one- and two-cup volumetric dosing controls and stepless adjustment dial for straightforward operation suited for the busiest cafe environments. The power-geared design is rounded out with subtle niceties like an adjustable portafilter holder and an anti-static coating for easy cleanup.

Lighting Fast

I upgraded from a Baratza Vario. I Only make espresso drinks and the Vario was decent but inconsistent. I grew frustrated and invested in the Olympus. Originally I thought I would buy a Rocket Fausto, but after doing some research I realized Eureka makes that machine. So I started looking at Eureka. The Olympus is definitely geared towards a coffee shop. It's big and lightning fast! Dialing in the grind was a piece of cake. The pause feature is incredibly convenient. My espresso tastes even better now and is much more consistent. This machine is expensive, but as long as the longevity is there I will be happy with my purchase.

Perfect Grinder for the Prosumer!

After being a long time user of the Breville Smart Grinder Pro for my espresso needs, I upgraded to the Olympus 75e. I also purchased the Mythos TiN Coated burrs, and i have not used the stock burrs to make any valid comparison.I’ve had the grinder for about a week, so much of this review is just a first impression, but what I can tell you off the bat is that this grinder is a beast for the prosumer. It’s a significant upgrade from the Breville Smart Grinder, as one would expect it to be. I do wish I was coming from something like a Sette or Lower end Mazzer so I could see how it compares to the entry level prosumer grade machines, but since this is a huge leap for me, everything is just so impressive.I had used some older, lower quality coffee to try to dial in the grind. It certainly gave me a lot of experience when it came to cleaning the machine (beans were a bit too oily), but it seemed like it took forever to dial in the grind. When I put in my regular bean, it took about 3 pulls to get it in to the ballpark, and maybe an additional 2 pulls to get in to that range of near perfection.Making grind size adjustments is as simple as turning a dial that sits next to the hopper. The dial is numbered and ticked for making points of reference, and since it is infinite, the dial turn is very smooth. The timed dosing is pretty consistent. I’m finding most grinding attempts with fresh beans are within .1-.3 grams.Grind particle size is also very consistent. My grinds come out fluffy with no clumping. You can also make adjustments to the grind chute to ensure the grinds hit your portafilter at a good angle to make for a more even distribution. It’s not the quietest grinder around, but it’s no worse than myold Breville. To be honest though, this grinder is so quick when it comes to dosing, the noise doesn’t bother me a bit—my double shot dose takes about 3 seconds.I mentioned earlier about instantly becoming a pro when it comes to cleaning the grinder. It’s incredibly easy to remove the burr set, and the best part about it is that your settings are not affected, so there is no need to re-calibrate.I do feel that this grinder does have a fair amount of grind retention. I’m hoping this was just due to my usage of somewhat oily coffee, so I’m hoping when I finish this initial bag of the high quality stuff, I’ll see a lot less.As far as size/footprint. Yes—This unit is quite large, and quite heavy. Luckily I don’t need a short hopper to accommodate it’s largesse :)I guess that’s all for my first impression review of the machine. I’m incredibly happy with this purchase and will continue to be for years to come!

I have a Compak K3 grinder in my home. I was thinking about upgrading to the Olympus. You mentioned the Olympus is loud. Can you please tell me, is the Olympus louder than the K3? If so, how much louder?
