FAQs
A dual boiler espresso machine uses one boiler for brewing espresso and a separate boiler for producing steam. Each boiler operates at its own temperature, with brewing and steaming managed through separate controls.
Many compact dual boiler espresso machines support brewing and steaming at the same time. Check the machine’s manual for operating details, since controls and power modes vary. You can also brew first and steam afterward if you prefer to handle one task at a time.
Models with adjustable temperature controls typically let you change the brew boiler setting through a PID controller or digital menu. Start with the manufacturer’s recommended setting, then make small adjustments while keeping your coffee dose, grind setting, and shot yield consistent. Steam temperature settings, when available, are adjusted separately.
Choose an espresso-capable burr grinder with fine grind adjustments. Stepless adjustment or closely spaced settings let you dial in your grind for espresso. When switching beans, keep your dose consistent and adjust the grind in small increments.
Clean the portafilter and baskets regularly, wipe and purge the steam wand after each use, and empty the drip tray as needed. Follow the manufacturer’s schedule for group head cleaning and backflushing, if supported. Use the recommended cleaning products, and follow model-specific guidance for water treatment and descaling.
