The open-box Ascaso is a very good purchase. Excellent follow-up service from Seattle Coffee Gear. The grinder is heavy and well-built with a strong motor to grind the very fine powder we need for our Argos Odyssey espresso machine. We grind singles doses of 18 grams for 2 ounce double shots for flat whites. The step-less adjustment facilitates fine adjustment.I flipped the two-prong portafilter support upside down to gain more space below the powder spout to accommodate a 58mm diameter dosing cup. That eliminates powder spilling out during grinding. It would be nice if a single dose hopper with bellows were available to puff out the retention in the spout. But a tap or two on the meal spout does that.I have had an earlier 38mm Ascaso Mini for 25 years at our vacation house, and have never had any problem. Ascaso build reliable grinders. The simplicity is appealing: no electronics to burn out, and a solid motor, good 54mm burrs and step-less adjustment.
