If your hopper has seen better days, check out this update of the old classic. Baratza's Shutoff Hopper puts a convenient new twist on the bean hopper with its built-in bean stopper. With beans still in hopper, twist lever to the closed position and remove hopper from grinder. Voilà! Beans stay in hopper while you transport to the next grinder. The Baratza Shutoff Hopper comes standard with the Forte grinder and can also be used with new Vario and Vario W grinders.

I bought a used year old Baratza Vario but missed the ability to remove the hopper to clear out unused beans. I also have a Brevill smart grinder which has that... This makes it much more convenient to pour what I think i will use ino the hopper and then easily remove what I did no need. Of course some of the beans will be lost at the bottom. Does what I needed. The only faux negative is that the cover is so clear that I have several times started to pour beans into the hopper with the top still in place. ??
Bought this to replace the original, which was a gift and was promptly broken while trying to learn how to use the actual machine. we love this coffee grinder; its not horribly loud and we can actually adjust the grind to brew coffee with our Bunn. I highly reocmmend the grinder

I'm not sure if this works with your Baratza. I ordered the wrong one (it had a metal shutoff hopper) and My requires the plastic insert. I returned and received the correct hopper. There are different hoppers for different machines.
I’ve been using it with mine. It folds down the conical gasket on the virtuoso which idk if that’s intended or not. I don’t really get bean spillage from it. It does fit in the slots.
