Quality machine makes consistently great coffee!

Quality from the sound of water heating up to the feel of the carafe as you lift it and pour to the top of the machine that recycles the steam so kitchen cabinets don’t get soaked. This is a very nice brewer. We have already used it to brew and fill a 20 oz to-go cup as well as larger volumes. Everything is great. I’m really happy with this coffee brewer.

Love the Coffee, but hate the Carafe

We purchased our Breville Precision Coffee Maker (glass carafe) after this helpful review. Love the coffee that is made, easy to use, looks nice in the kitchen. BUT, I broke the glass carafe in May 2024 and was unable to locate a replacement. This has been an ongoing problem since 2019. At that time, I found a replacement from Breville Canada and paid the $65 shipping charge because it was better than not being able to use the machine. This week, the one year old carafe spontaneously cracked on the bottom. I again contacted Breville (US) and they send me a link to purchase a new carafe. After 2 weeks, the order was cancelled. I called and they said it is because the glass carafe is . . . on back order (since 2019). So my $300 Breville is sitting in the garage until my heirs can hopefully find a replacement. I bought a cheap Mr. Coffee maker for less than the cost of the not-available Breville carafe.

Great Coffee!

It makes such great coffee! And I really like the flexibility of all the different settings. I went back & forth between the 'Gold' and 'Strong' settings for a week to see which one I liked best, but were excellent, but decided the 'Gold' had better overall flavor. The original glass carafe leaked between the glass and plastic, so I ended up with drips all over the counter while pouring coffee. Seattle Coffee Gear pointed me to Breville support which promptly shipped a new carafe, so now it's perfect. The next step is to play with the 'My Brew' settings; it's the engineer in me that likes to play.

Continues to be the best coffee maker I have ever had. That is largely attributable to the speed it can get me a "Gold" standard cup of coffee! It does drive me crazy turning itself off after 2 hours and not having a way to turn the warmer back on. The argument I guess would be that you shouldn't drink coffee that has warmed for longer than 2 hours, but my home office is 100 feet away from the coffee maker. I don't always come back within 2 hours!

Good features and a suggestion

Makes good coffee, programming includes bloom time adjustment, brews fast.Bulky looking design, and takes up more counter space than it should have to. An I indicator light to show when the warming plate is on would be useful.

Replacement carafe

My glass carafe broke and I have been frustrated with Breville?s lack of support. I contacted the Breville corporate office in Torrance CA with no luck. I was told it was on back order and this is going on 2 years now. I did like the coffee when I could use it but now I just own an expensive coffee maker that does not make coffee. Very disappointed in the company.

Great. But maybe too much not for average coffee drinker.

Probably overkill for the average person. I love mine because I can change temp in increments of 1 degree up or down. Compared to other machines have Hot or Hotter as temp options. I can also change the bloom time which is cool. But as I said, probably overkill for the average coffee drinker. If you, the reader, still wants this machine, opt for the insulated carafe version.

Lots of choices?

Bigger than it looks. If you only make regular drip coffee, 2/3 of your cost is wasted.

All I can say is that I love it, the coffee brew perfectly remains "hot" and the look complements my kitchen. Would highly recommend it.

Good output, a little plasticky

We definitely enjoy the coffee we make with this. We use the GOLD setting pretty much exclusively. This machine will make a big batch of coffee, and we love that, too. It's made of a lot of plastic, and the plastic gets pretty stained and it's hard to clean. Also, water gets in between the inner and outer part of the basket when you rinse it, requiring a fair amount of work to get out and then you need to leave it somewhere to dry for the day.Still, Gold cup + timer + big batches = near bliss first thing in the morning. One more note - we live in our RV so we sleep fairly close to this thing. It will wake you up when the pump kicks on!

warmer feature

I was wondering if the keep warm feature timer (which is set at 2hrs) can be changed to 0 minutes or so. I find if I want a second cup of coffee it is definitely not as fresh as my first cup.

Bad bad bad

Coffee snarky stays warm for 20 minutes. Not sure if what u received was a defective machine, but as of now it’s worse then a $20 Mr coffee.

Deceitful product with poor design

Frustrated with Breville support and design on this product as they placed non customizable features on the product and lied about the functionality when responding to customer questions. The most frustrating is the hot plate which will only run if you make batches of around 6 cups or more. If you just want to make a few cups in the morning and run it an auto you will wake up to cold coffee because their very well advertised hot plate doesn't even run. There is no way to change this setting and I would not recommend this product as it is equal to a $70 coffee maker at that point. Get a Moccamaster with a smart plug if you want auto run coffee hot and ready for you in the morning.

Easy to fill. Quiet operation. The product feels well made, the handle on the carafe is comfortable. The product as a whole physically moves well and is very sturdy. As a brewer, you can taste the difference. The gold brew brings out different notes in the coffee. It’s expensive but I think the price is justified by the extremely high quality.

An excellent coffee maker

The Breville Precision brewer makes an excellent cup/pot of joe. It's easy to use and looks good on my counter. I would recommend it for anyone who wants extreme versatility in a coffee maker that brews great coffee.

Typical Breville engineering and design, which is good overall

I do own the brewer and Breville CS told me that parts for all Precision Brewers should be available in a few weeks. I have had the Breville Dual Boiler espresso for 3 years and love it. Breville puts more thought into their products than anybody at any price. This brewer included. One exception is the shower head. It seems to be too focused which could be fine if they designed the active basket valve to hold the bloom water fully in the basket and then release on larger pots, it only does that on 4 cups or under. Great concept for smaller brewing. Anyway because it is interchangeable, maybe they will come out with a different shower head although the water pressure will suffer if it has more holes. I did get the pour over adapter (mine as well if you are spending $279) it is clever and does a surprising decent job, but again a lot of steps and does rob you of the "ritual" of using a gooseneck kettle.I am still working on dialing in the parameters as I usually brew 10 cups in the morning so the "GOLD" setting doesn't apply and I really don't know what those setting are. A couple of other notes:Breville is great as they use a PID temp control like their espresso machine, this is great. The noise of the machine is totally overblown. It is more than usual drip machine because of the pump. Honestly, if you have this machine, I would bet that you are grinding before you brew and the grinder is 100X louder, so that complaint is invalid. It is not as loud as horrible KCup machines.

Outstanding!

I just want a decent cup of coffee in the morning. I don't care to have to learn a bunch of steps to achieve a good coffee, but this makes it simple. I love it!

Currently a Technivorm owner and love it....it's just that the shower head is woefully poor. I've seen this but heard of the very small shower head as well. Do you have issues getting a proper wetting of the grounds without having to go to small enough grind to cause a submersed brew?
