Overview

The Breville Oracle Touch strikes the balance between convenience and quality with dead-simple operation and the prosumer-inspired basics to back it up. True to its name, the Touch flaunts a vibrant 4-inch touchscreen that lets you zip through controls and menus, change settings, and program and save custom drinks—all at the flick of a finger. The streamlined screen means friendlier operation for owners and guests alike, while also enabling custom drinks and labels to make your mornings easier. The Oracle Touch's impressive featureset finds its roots in traditional espresso machine designs: dedicated brew and steam boilers, PID temperature control, a heated brew group, and built-in pre-infusion (to name a few). And just like the original Oracle, the Touch sports an automatic dosing and self-tamping grinder (that now supports both single and double espresso baskets), volumetric shot programming, and best-in-class automatic milk steaming that rivals most cafes.

Great coffee machine when it works. I have had a problem with this machine once every 12 months. It was sold to me from SCG as a 10-year machine. While it did make good coffee, I am now throwing it away due to technical issues. I highly recommend you look at other brands.

Solid Purchase

Is my Cafe Latte from this machine as good as my favorite local designer coffee house? No. But is that drink 98% as good? Yes. Wait, there?s more? This machine turns itself on 30 minutes before we crawl out of bed so it is ready to go when we finally get up. And not only is it no-brainer easy to make a latte or americano, but the whole process takes up less counter space and makes less of a mess than our previous pour-over approach. Better still - these coffee drinks are so not-bitter that I no longer need to dump sugar in the cup so my doctor should be happier as well. Yes - it?s crazy expensive. But honestly, it should pay for itself in a year or two if you do the math. And? honestly, a nice homemade latte really does help take the edge off being stuck every day working from home. Let?s hear it for Latte Therapy.

Oracle Touch

I've had this machine for 3 weeks now and feel good about giving it a review now. Overall I really like the machine. The only thing I'm just a little disappointed at is the auto tamping. Unless the basket is wet, it will overfill and make a mess in the basket and chute of the machine. We do live in dry climate, so I'm sure that has something do with that. My wife has no problems using a wet basket, but I use a naked portafilter, and the channeling from the auto tamping is not good.I purchased a Sette grinder and single dose with it and get perfect shots. The steaming on this unit is a pure pleasure to work with. I made a custom coffee sender with epoxy encased beans on the countertop, upper shelf, and drawer front to show off all of my Seattle gear, thanks guys!

Best. Coffee. Ever.

Wow, we weren’t expecting an automated coffee machine to brew such fantastic coffee. Automated enough to make it very easy, quick and simple to make any type of coffee drink even rushing off to work, but adjustable enough to really dial in a perfect pull of espresso. I have had drinks as good at some high end coffee shop, but not any better than I can make at home now. Black Americanos are incredibly smooth with no hint of bitterness. In person it is a striking piece of art in the kitchen. Initially worried about risking so much money, but well worth it thus far. High quality machine and accessories. Replaced our Delonghi Magnifica superautomatic, no comparison. Shipped in 1 day, excellent service from SCG.

Nice machine

I just got this to replace my Silvia V3 and Rocky because i will be having rotator cuff surgery and this is easier to use one handed. It also makes very good espresso without all the fuss, or coffee grounds mess. I use nut milk and have not figured out how to texture nut milk like i could with silvia though, hope to figure that bit out by adjusting the froth and temperature. Still makes a tasty latte. I love that i can set it to turn on and be ready when i am, rather than waiting for it to heat up. Also enjoy double booier, so i can start to pull the espresso bear the end of the milk frothing.

Almost makes me look like I know what I’m doing!

Setup was very straightforward. Followed package directions and then...a full setup tutorial in the software! Only been a week and a half so far but it’s great. Looks a bit intimidating if you’ve never had one like this before but it’s very easy to operate. DO pay attention to the dimensions listed. It WILL NOT fit under a standard height upper cabinet with the bean hopper attached. We have lower trim pieces hiding under cabinet lights which makes it even worse. The cup warmer side WILL fit under (even with the trim) so you can offset it to some degree if you want/need.

Great machine! Easy to use.

1 week in and all is well. Love the simplicity as well as being highly customizable.

Great machine with easy adjustments to dial in . Water gauge is somewhat hidden, especially when positioned back under the counter.

Not bad but wouldn't buy again

We've owned this unit for almost five years, and there's good and bad. The good:The machine is easy to dial in and use. Very easy to get a tasty shot. The built in grinder/tamper makes getting grounds into the portafilter so easy and fast with almost no mess. The Bad:The grinder adjustment is sometimes not quite fine enough to really dial in shots. Limited ability to adjust the dose. The descale process is very finicky and can cause your machine not to heat. Machine seems to break/have weird issues every two years or so like clockwork, we've had to repair the machine three times total in five years. Only Breville can repair the machine since Breville doesn't provide parts to anyone else. The whole process of dealing with Breville is a bit of a headache, they seem to have little interest in even accepting the machine for repairs. Every time I've had to get the machine repaired has required emailing Breville multiple times before they'll even start the process of getting the machine repaired.Due to the lack of reliability and inability to really dial in the machine I would probably buy a semiauto machine and separate grinder if I had to do everything over again. Every espresso machine is going to need service so getting a machine that can be serviced locally is key

Lot of trouble

Great features, not consistent with the grind , they sent me 3 of them , they kept breaking.Breville replaced it a few times, so the customer service isn't bad, but I ended up selling it and would not buy it again.

Love our new Breville OTE Machine

We've had the OTE for a couple of months and (so far) we are really impressed with it. It makes great cappuccino drinks. Super-impressed with the consistency of the milk/froth. We upgraded from a lower priced (less-automated, single boiler) Breville machine. The familiarity with Breville was a plus. But the OTE is def next level.

Great flavor and easy to use.

Love it so far! It makes great drinks and it's easy to use.

Too many failures.

When it works it works great. 6 years in and the grinder is not working, leak after leak after leak over the years. Solenoids fail over time. Extremely disappointed with the quality of this machine for the money paid.

Love my Breville Oracle Touch

Is it perfect? No it isn't, but do I love it, yes I do ! Solid and well built and so easy to use. The first one I got, lasted about a week until it stopped steaming milk correctly. It was promptly replaced with another new one and this one is excellent. Such a nice upgrade from my previous expresso machine, the Philips Latego system. It's expensive, but makes amazing milk based espresso drinks. It looked better in real life than in the pictures or video's. I love the black stainless steel. Very happy. I got the extended warranty through Seattle Coffee Gear too. I have been dealing with them for years now and have been very happy with their service after the sale. I would recommend this machine and Seattle Coffee Gear as well.

Love this machine

Only had this for about 2 months but so far flawless. Had a super automatic before that died in a power surge so upgraded to this and I am so happy with it. Coffee is so much better with this machine. Highly recommend it to anyone. Learning curve not too bad, I only screwed up about the first three or four cups of coffee. Hint: don?t make the grind super fine. Somewhere in the middle works best.Seattle has a good instructional youtube video and the tutorial in the machine itself is quite good.

Disappointing on two machines!

It's great when it works. I had to return the first machine because it quit working - made awful grinding noises and would not stop even when turned off. I had to unplug it.They sent me another one. Now after about 5 months, during a descaling, it cancelled the program mid way through, and now will not come up to temperature, only reaching 160 degrees F. I'm very disappointed with Breville.

Our third Oracle!

We?ve had an Oracle for almost 6 years that needed repair. Facing the prospect of several weeks without one, we ordered a new one, planning to keep the old one as a spare. Unfortunately the new one had a defect with tamping. After trying several fixes with Seattle Coffee Gear tech support that didn?t fix the problem, they offered to replace it. Happily, the NEW new one came quickly and works beautifully.Great service guys! Thanks.

Weak documentation. Does good automatic milk foaming. Grinding and tamping is excellent.

It's a beautiful machine but lacks specific explanations of the different kinds of drinks available and just how to make them. There is one tutorial on how to make a latte, but how about how to make a cappuccino. Or a flat white.Additionally, after I sent a request to support I received no answer.

Good While it Lasted, I Guess

We've now had this for three years, and I'm concerned the machine is already on its last legs. Two months ago our portawand handle snapped off, revealing that the metal portion extended only a tiny way into the plastic. This was a guaranteed point of failure, and not acceptable for a machine priced at $2700. I asked SCG about this using their online chat, and the reply was "Yah, that happens. Here's the part number for a new one." $110 and two weeks later we were back in business. Now, the machine has begun making a loud buzzing noise with each shot. A quick search online revealed that we probably have a failing solenoid. It's due to inadequate materials used on a gasket. I'm afraid to reach out to SCG again, as I expect I'll again hear "Yah, that happens. Here's how much it will cost for you to fix it." We did not expect such cheap parts on a unit that costs this much.

Is it worth it...again?

In my first year of ownership, I would have given this product 5 stars. In my second year of ownership, I would have given this product 4 stars. After nearly my fourth year of ownership, I've downgraded the rating to just 3 stars. My reason...reliability, or should I say lack thereof. In the second year, I had to send the machine in under warranty repair, which Breville handled brilliantly by the way. In the fourth year, I had a similar issue of the top of the machine getting way too hot, losing pressure, and dripping water into the tool tray. Since the machine was no longer under warranty, I decided to open it up and take a look at the internals. I quickly identified a leak on one of the boiler's fittings and suspected it was a failed O ring. The problem with hot steam blowing all over the insides of an electric appliance is water condensation causing everything to rust, including electrical ground connections. After my assessment, I came to the same conclusion that Breville most likely would have come to...the unit was irreparable due to safety concerns caused by water corrosion. While inside the unit, I must say it is a masterpiece of construction and melding of electro-mechanical components that delivered great coffee. The real question that remains in my mind is, "Is it worth it...again?" What I really liked was the double boiler system, the removable bean hopper, controlling the bean grind, the integrated milk frothing wand with temperature sensor, the auto tamper, large water container, and overall ease of use. What I didn't like was the integrated maintenance system; yes it would tell you when to clean the brew unit, but it never told you when to decalcify the machine. When you went into the menu to decalcify, you would often get a "heating" message and seldom the "ready" message. The first couple of times of me decalcifying the machine, I never got the full instructions to display because it was always in the "heating" state that it never left. Frustrated, I just decalcified the machine based on some videos I watched online and previous experience with other manufacturers' similar systems. I believe the failure of my machine was directly linked to the machine not correctly stepping through the decalcification program. The total cost of ownership worked out to about $700 a year, so much cheaper and better than Starbucks fulfilling my daily needed caffeine fixes, but still pricy. I would buy version 2.0 of the Oracle Breville Touch in a heartbeat...but not this one again.

I would absolutely recommend the Touch model it is a true upgrade.

After several years of enjoying the Oracle Expresso ($2000 model), it became a choice of a $500 repair or buy a new one. I reluctantly went with the Oracle Touch on July 2021. Reluctant, believing more electronics would lead to higher maintenance. I?m very happy with the Touch model. What I like most is the auto programming. If I mess with say the grind, or foam settings and forget the factory settings, just hit factory auto to reset. My lattes have never been better.
