Overview

Designed with the same curvy sass and sustainable attributes as the Chemex Classic, but featuring the added borosilicate arm which gives the Chemex Glass Handle Series its name. Brew anywhere between 3 and 10 cups of coffee and watch as the Chemex Special Filter absorbs all excess oils, leaving behind a clean stream of coffee brimming with all the aromatic subtleties that are so often lost in standard brewing. This design dates all the way back to 1941, first created by a chemist working to patent his inventive design after a culmination of studied methods and tested concepts arranged to chemically produce the best flavors possible in coffee. True to his success, it's no wonder the Chemex is one of the most highly recommended brew methods around!

Chemex
If you’re a fan of coffee, you’ve probably encountered the term Chemex before. This unique one-piece, hourglass-shaped vessel offers a great starting point or additional tool for your pourover toolset. All you need to get started is grounds, a filter, and hot water! People like the Chemex Coffeemaker and other pourover devices because they help to remove the bitterness from the coffee. Seattle Coffee Gear has coffee makers as well as Chemex filters, cleaners and mugs here.

Love my Chemex. The handle really helps for pouring, and it makes a great tasting coffee. Perfect!!

The best

For over 20 years, I enjoyed my Chemex carafe. It was sturdy, but it took a hard hit and needed to be replaced. I'm happy to see that the new one still has the quality and durability of the old one. If there was one thing I could change, it would be to modify the pour spout to eliminate the small drop of coffee that goes down the outside of the carafe after pouring.

great coffee from this pour over carafe

Fabulous coffee

Love it, makes deliciously smooth coffee. The filters can be a bit tricky as grinds sometimes get stuck in the folds and water gets clogged, slow to drip. But worth it for plastic-free coffee.

Simple, clean, makes a good cup of coffee.

I like the handle, convenience and size, plus a I got a lid for it and it more or less says warm until I'm done with my morning Joe.

Not worth the time.

I wanted to like this so badly. My wife and I are trying to transition away from plastic so this seemed like the perfect choice. She had been doing single poor cups and I was useing an old Corning flameware pyrex pot. Unfortunately this Chemex unit wont take all the water off the git meaning you stand there and play with it??and play with it. It's the AM and I want some coffee. Sorry not worth it.

Goodbye french press

This 6-cupper with a handle is so easy to use. Swish with water when you're done brewing and turn upside down on kitchen towel until next use. Yes, the coffee is different than a cup of french press, but at this point I am more concerned about lowering cholesterol in coffee, which this type of brewing and filters do.

Quiet and quick

Well, what can I say. It's pretty obvious, it makes good coffee, quickly. No noise from electric drip brewers chugging away, you control the amount of water and no mineral build-up in the Chemex as in electric machines. Quiet and quick, almost a zen experience. Aesthetically pleasing as well. And the handle makes it easier to pour. Even the folding of the filter is a slowing of the mind, and you can appreciate the minimal and clean design of the filter box. Clearly meditative and worth purchasing.

Forgot what we were missing

It?s great! We?ve been without a chemex for a few years, and man...we had forgot what we were missing! We love the all glass look vs the wooden original and the handle is handy (ha)

Worse Now

Unfortunately, this Chemex is significantly thinner, and the pouring channel much more shallow, than the exact same Chemex I purchased two years ago. I’m not sure whether this was just a one-off issue with this particular one, or if Chemex is just cutting costs by using less material and shoddier work. Anyway, unfitting yes that coffee now drips down the unit onto the counter every single time because the pour is so shallow...

First pour over brewer, handle makes for easy pouring and washing. Well made even though it's not the hand blown version. Good size for 2, coffee stays hot. Makes a good pour over cup of coffee!

Filters taste like cardboard

The chemex looks awesome and the 10 cup size is prefect for my needs, but the chemex brand paper filters taste like cardboard. Even after running boiling water through the filter two or three times before doing the pour over, the coffee still tastes like a box. Maybe it's because they are unbleached, but so far, I am not super satisfied.

It produces better coffee than the French press I was using. Fits perfectly in the dishwasher. Very attractive design. I recommend it and would buy it again.

3-cup Chemex with handle - worth it

So glad that I found the 3 cup Chemex with a handle, to replace my original 3 cup Chemex without a handle (RIP). More control when pouring. Note: the collar from the 3 cup Chemex without a handle does fit on the 3 cup Chemex with a handle, for finger protection when pouring out the hot rinse water from the other side.

Very Pleased

It works very well for me -- easy to handle and just the right amount of well-brewed coffee.

Worth the money

I originally had an original Chemex with the wooden neck and loved it. Unfortunately, I knocked it over and broke it. Ended up trying to save a little money and got a pour over from a different brand. Big mistake because it didn’t work nearly as well as a Chemex. Bit the bullet and got this Chemex with the handle. Love it even more than the one with the wooden neck. So much easier to pour and the glass seems thicker/less delicate.

Love!

I love this coffeemaker and it looks beautiful. Only problem--it breaks easily. I have broken one, so I am being more careful this time.

Great Pot

The Chemex is a very unusual design. It makes an incredible few cups of coffee. However it is somewhat complicated to use; but the end result is well worth it. My suggestion get on YOUTUBE and type in Chemex. There are dozen or more videos showing you how to use it, many from Seattle Coffee Gear. Watch as many as you can and you will be surprised on the quality of the brew. And you will be brewing great coffee in no time and ask why you did not purchase one sooner. I would recommend this product to anyone who is willing to take the time to get great tasting coffee.

Love it! This is our third Chemex since I keep breaking them from being careless, so this time I got the one with a handle.

Exceeds my expectations.

I resisted buying a chemex for so long. I have other brewing devices and always thought how could the coffee get any better. Lo and behold the chemex has lived up to the hype. By far my favorite way of brewing. Glad I pulled the trigger and purchased one. Delivery was speedy and the packaging was fine.

First time buyer at Seattle Coffee Gear

My first experience with Seattle Coffee Gear was excellent. I have been using a Chemex glass coffee maker for over 50 years. Recently, while drying my Chemex (6-cup with handle) I carelessly hit the side of my counter top with it and broke it. Couple of places that I tried to order a new one from were out of stock. So I tried a new place: Seattle Coffee Gear whose price was competitive and shipping charge reasonable. it arrived about four days later and I could once again have my favorite coffee in the morning. Thanks Seattle Coffee Gear!

Chemex 3-cup glass handle coffeemaker

I am a five-decade Chemex coffeemaker fan and own about a dozen Chemex coffeemakers in sizes 3-cup thru 13-cup. It took me a long time to try the 3-cup size and I learned that I loved it. I have bought five for my sons and myself. For a long time I didn't consider trying the glass-handled pot--it looks so fragile--but finally bought this one for a son. He loves it! He says it is easier to brew because you can see the coffee level as you are brewing, and that it is much easier to pour. He says he re-warms his coffee in the microwave and that the pot is a cinch to clean. I plan to buy two for myself and at least one for my older son. I am also considering buying a six-cup glass-handled Chemex pot, although I wonder whether it will be hard to pour from a larger pot. That handle looks so fragile... My son insists it is not so fragile as it looks.
