With blend names like Fast Forward and Hologram, Counter Culture Coffee better be as forward-thinking as its branding suggests! If you take a look into the history of this Durham, NC-based coffee roaster, you’ll find a little bit of disruption and a whole lot of innovation along the way. Counter Culture Coffee was founded in 1995 by two coffee-lovers with a mission: to produce sustainable, eco-friendly coffee beans. In fact, it was one of the first shade-grown coffee makers around and launched a shade-grown, bird-friendly line of coffee in 1997.

A good medium roast coffee.

I was going to order Big Trouble, but it was on backorder, so I tried Hologram. It was for use in my Miele super automatic. It was a good coffee, but not exceptional; I tend to prefer darker roasts.

Nice but too fruity for my taste- I thought I was getting something with a bit more oomph. I?ll have to try darker roasts

Great beans!

Recommended by SCG and loving it! Fresh. Can taste chocolate notes. Not oily. We turned down the grind size and grind time in our (breville) grinder for a double pour. Would order again! TY

Amazing

This one is going to be part of my subscription every month! When you smell this coffee it seems like it would be overly sweet but it's really balanced. The chocolate and blueberries really pop in this with a slight citrusy flavor and a strong smoke taste on the finish. I suggest this coffee to anyone who likes lighter coffees.

Bright and fruity

Brewed this in my Espro Press (with paper filter) and I'm actually enjoying it. The coffee tastes bright and I'm picking up more of the fruity-ness they mentioned and not so much the chocolate or syrup. Could be just the way I brewed it. I'm going to try it with the Hario v60 tomorrow and see if there will be a difference.

what is the bean's country of origin? You know the main reason one drinks lighter to medium roasts are so they can taste the terrior or the characteristics or that particular country or region.

Hello! We're quite aware of the importance of origin on coffee blends, trust us! Generally the reason we don't list them on blends is the seasonal nature of coffee.Like with many crops, coffee is in season at different times in different countries. As such, always on offer blends like this one can change from season to season. At the time of this answer (January 2020), this is the makeup of this specific blend:65% Urcunina, Colombia / 13% Sawana Natural, Ethiopia / 12% Muda Natural, Ethiopia / 10% Mutero, Kenya
