Bad coffee / bad design

This coffee maker put me off all DeLonghi products. The wide bottom on the carafe ensures the coffee instantly gets cold. Despite trying multiple brands and grinds, I was never able to get it to make a decent cup of joe. The carafe somehow manages to get coffee residue all over it and is not dishwasher safe. The forced cleaning is on an automatic non-adjustable timer and cannot be bypassed. There's a lot of plastic your coffee will have to pass through. After a year of trying, it ended up as very expensive landfill fodder.

This coffee maker was fantastic (everything as described), until it shorted out after a year. I like the simple design, but will probably upgrade if I decide to get another drip machine. For now its French press.

Have you (SCG) compared the final outcome for taste /flavor of the ‘Drip’ mode vs. ‘Pour Over’ mode? Also, do you (SCG) alter, if at all, the grind between Drip and PourOver ? What, if any, difference in flavor do you find? Thanks SCG

What filter should I buy?

Even after cleaning, machine will remain on (in both direct and pour-over modes) with both buttons blinking. Pressing one or the other button after making a fresh pot won't stop the blinking. Have to unplug it to get it to stop blinking. What do to? Thanks, PG

Daniel B.

2 blinking buttons means it needs to be descaled., preferably with DeLonghi descaled. If you’ve done this and both buttons are still blinking then you may have a defect and need to contact the store or delonghi for a replacement or repair.

Both buttons are flashing and there's no troubleshooting section of the manual to explain this Why?

Is the water tank glass or plastic?

Richard M.

Per response I received from product specialist at DeLonghi support, the water tank is plastic, BPA free.
