Equator Coffee
Created by business partners Brooke McDonnell and Helen Russell in 1995, Equator Coffee & Teas started in a garage in Marin County, California, and is now one of the most beloved roasters in the Golden State. What turned Equator from a small-scale, garage-based coffee roaster to the powerhouse micro-roaster it is today? It all comes down to their ability to build lasting relationships with the farmers who grow their beans, most of whom live in South America, Central America and Africa.

The beans were very oily. I was afraid that it will cause a problem with our grinder. The taste was OK, but honestly I don't see these kind of oily beans on high quality products.
Yummy , this is soooo good
Best espresso I've had and I've tried many brands. I've had a subscription for years now
nice deep flavor. Does well in Breville impress
Great chocolaty taste! Perfect for cappuccinos and lattes.
Wonderful and flavorful. Great for espresso.
Mild and flavorful - perfect for my first cuppa of the day!
When I saw hazelnut I was afraid it might be flavored with hazelnut. Well it has a very subtle hint of hazelnut and that made me like it.I'm still experimenting with the grind and I bet it tastes even better when I get it right for my stovetop espresso.Package design is dynamite it's fun to leave it out, Even non coffee drinkers like the sassy red bag.I'll buy it again for sure.r.
Very good taste in top 10%. Beans ground with no issues in Rocky Rancilio. Bit more expensive than others, but certainly worth a taste..
Definitely scheduling a return engagement!
Just got this today, and I'm absolutely impressed. Fresh roasted, crazy crema, smells delightful. Has a heavy note of dark chocolate, with a sweet peachy zest to it. Definitely going to buy again.
I tend to prefer the rich and full bodied espressos, and this one fits my tastes perfectly. Out of the half dozen varieties I've tried here on SCG, this one is my clear favorite to date.
will this work ion my Breville Oracle, or is it too dark?
It works fine in Breville Oracle - and tastes great. My wife's favorite bean for latte. I use setting 29 for grind size.
Can this coffee be used in a super automatic? Is it oily? I'm having a hard time finding espresso roasts that aren't oily. I'd really love to have organic, which is really hard to find.
The Equator is a dark roast but I just didn't care for the flavor contrary to what the SCG crew thought. The Zoka is a medium roast that is not oily at all. It reminds me of the northern regions of Italy and may be what you're looking for. I prefer the dark roasts from further south which have a little more 'body" to them but some are pretty oily. I have a semi-auto Simonelli. Try lots of different ones to see which you like best and good luck
I have purchased the Zoka, & did not find it to be oily...hope that helps.
I didn't find it oily. I used it in my Jura automatic and had no issues.
