I liked this grinder best after looking at a couple, but almost did not purchase it due to the hopper. The compact hoppers that fit other Eureka models do not fit the helios, and at 23.5 inches tall, this will not fit in most kitchens. However, I thought of a way to cut the hopper, which is why I am posting this - because it worked :) I cut about 6cm off the top. The top of the hopper is slightly indented, and after measuring that diameter, I found that about 6cm down from the top (the hopper curves in ever so slightly), the diameter at that point was the same as the top. I placed a dremel with a plastic cut off wheel inverted in a dremel drill press. I had to cut the 6cm off in two portions because there was not enough clearance from the drill press to cut it all off at once. I simply placed the hopper on a flat support base, right side up, and used just held it flat and rotated it until the whole top was cut off. I got a perfectly straight cut, and the lid fits perfectly snug :)Aside from making this height correction, I am very impressed with the shots I am getting. My last grinder was a Baratza 270w and I can definitely taste a difference. The shots from the Eureka are much smoother and more balanced, even when the grind isn't dialed in 100%. I'm currently pulling 18g shots in 3.5 seconds at the current grind setting.Thought I would post this in case anyone else is hesitant to buy because of the height - if you are adventurous and want to try cutting the hopper, it could be an option you might not otherwise entertain. Also, the hopper base that sits in the grinder actually screws into the hopper, so if you happen to damage the top it is only one piece and it isn't even the part that connects to the grinder. Might be an option for someone that doesn't mind a little modification if height is a problem.
This grinder is a life saver, has cut the time it takes us to make coffee in half. It also is way less waste. We are in love with this grinder!

No, the hopper is specific to the Helios only. There is a sensor in the collar, where the neck of the hopper sits that allows the grinder to operate.
