Sizes Available: Small (01) Medium (02)

How the Hario Coffee Dripper V60 Works

The pour-over technique allows you to brew directly into your cup or server. While techniques may vary among users, below is an overview of the pour-over's general process.

  • Grind your coffee beans and preheat your dripper and vessel
  • Set the dripper atop or above your vessel
  • Place the appropriate paper or cloth filter into the Hario Coffee Dripper V60
  • Add ground coffee depending on your specific taste preferences
  • Pour the desired amount of preheated (anywhere from 195&deg to 205&deg) water over the coffee grounds, allowing the brewed coffee to drip down into your vessel

Great quality

I picked up a glass server and a red ceramic dropper, both in medium, and love them. I had read some articles about lowering the risk of heart disease by using paper filters in coffee and so I decided to add this method to my typical French Press making skills. Coffee tastes delicious this way and the materials are of great quality. I am a little nervous that the glass server is a bit thin for the heavier ceramic dripper, but I’ll be careful stacking them and hopefully nothing will chip. I’m also very grateful that Seattle Coffee Gear is still willing to ship during the covid-19 crisis. Thanks for doin what you do, and stay safe.

Red coffee filter

There is one large hole at the bottom of the filter, because of the size of the hole water and coffee grounds together create a blowout.

Perfecto!

Obviously this is not a complex working item. But I will say that I love it and it works wonderful.

Practice makes perfect!

We have enjoyed the learning curve for making pourover coffee with the Hario V60! Like having to eat each homemade sourdough loaf or frozen yogurt for taste and texture nuances, we're happy to drink coffee frequently to learn to get the best aromas and tastes in coffee with good brewing technique. The Hario is our brew of choice now! (Wish it were as easy to know how long to decant a wine!!)

Perfect for the office/camping

I'm a school teacher and don't really have an office--my office is my classroom, and we don't have a "teacher's lounge" like you might remember from your own school as a child. They make coffee for all the teachers in the main kitchen, but it tastes like diesel fuel. I grind a bag of Blue Bottle in my grinder at home, bring that to my room in a vacuum sealed container, and then make myself a pour-over with this dripper from hot water I get from the water dispenser. It works perfectly, makes a mug of coffee in about a minute, and it tastes better than anything they make at work. I get compliments on it from all my colleagues and they come to my room so that I can make them a cup. This unit and the filters are so small I can keep it in the top drawer of my desk. It's cleaned easily with a blast of hot water from the tap. It's perfect if you're in a location where you don't have access to top-notch equipment, and need something very small.

Opt for the Medium even for 1 Cup at A Time....

If you like your coffee strong, then, get the larger size. The "small" unit certainly holds enough for light to medium body coffees, but if you want to make a mug sized cup of stronger coffee, the total available volume of the small is too small. It's a great product though.

i'm guessing the glaze on the ceramic dripper is impervious to hot water (meaning, it won't initially leach or erode chemicals)? thanks!

Patrick C.

Hello, this is correct, I've used one hundreds of time with no erosion.

Is this red ceramic v60 (mine is size 01) a tad bigger than the white ceramic version? The filters seems to pull away from the sides of the cone as though the cone diameter were off... Either that, or the filters (size 01) are too small.

What are the exact dimensions of the 2 different size (small & medium) Hario pour overs? Saying one is for 1-2 cups & the med is for 1-4 cups is no help at all. I need height, width etc.

What's the difference between the small and medium sizes? I just want to make 1 cup of regular rip coffee.ThanksDB

Teri K.

If you are looking for just a single cup at a time, I'd suggest the small 01 size in this Hario dripper. The 01 V60 Dripper is good for serving 1-2 cups, while the 02 is good for 1-4, and the 03 is meant for 1-6 cups. Hope this helps!
