Works great but expensive

Works great but the 9 tablets translate to 3 cleanings since 3 tabs are required per cleaning.

How do you use the Jura cleaning tablets? My directions are lost.

Randall L.

If I remember correctly, you dissolve 3 tablets in a quart of water and put the solution in your tank and then following your descaling instructions.

Itamar A.

Machine on, water in tank, tray emptied. Push program button and select cleaning. When indicated place a tablet in the pre-ground coffee slot. For Decalcification, place the three tablets in 600 ml of water and allow them to dissolve. Then poor into the tank and start decal process.

I bought some decalcifying tablets that expired in September. Can I still use them?

Customer

Yes there is no issue using them past the date as they will be dissolved in water to activate. The tablet is only the dry chemical so there should be no issue. Only problem is if you had punctured the seal on them and water from the air got in then they might not work as well.

Michael S.

I haven't had experience with expired decal tablets, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them, as long as they look whole & intact - ie, not crumbling or dissolving from exposure to moisture. The tablets are a mix of acids & corrosion inhibitors, which I would expect to be pretty stable, as long as they're kept dry. Most manufacturers are pretty conservative about expiration dates - I would expect the Swiss to be especially so. September isn't that long ago, & after all, this isn't a pharmaceutical, or something you're going to eat.......

Roxann

If the tablets have been stored under "normal" conditions (not high humidity, severe temperatures) and the tablets have not changed color or appearance, I would use them. I would not hold them forever - meaning another several years. Be prepared to replace them periodically if you do not use them very ofter. Do try for fresh dates in the future - ask the supplier.

Kenneth Y.

I use the tablets I have and have not payed attention to the date. Have not had a problemKen

Carol N.

I would use them. If they do not clean your Jura, I would guess that the machine will just tell you to clean it again. I did not realize they expired.

Customer

I have used decalcifying tablets that are past expiration....and have had no problems.

Is there a difference between 'descaling tabs' and 'decalcifying tabs'?

Teri K.

No, the words descaling and decalcifying are used interchangeably, and both refer to the process of maintaining your machine by removing minerals/scale built up over time from your water. Jura machines require the use of either their water filters or these Jura Decal Tablets.

Are these the same thing as the Cleaning tablets that previously came in a pack of 6? They appear to now be called descaling tablets instead of cleaning tablets......I want to make sure I am ordering the correct thing. Thanks!

Fred P.

Nope - the cleaning tablets are still available as packets of 6 or 25. The descaling tablets are different.
