Overview

Sometimes, before that first cup of coffee, drowsiness gives us the drop-sies. Luckily the Kalita Wave Series has a stainless steel version of their beautiful (and breakable) glass version. Both coffee drippers incorporate a flat-bottom design with a patented "Wave" filter. Together they create an even coffee extraction that you control. Take a little time to perfect your pour and this coffee dripper design will amaze you with delicious results.

The 155 Wave dripper is optimized for brewing a single-serving of brewed coffee. We recommend this dripper for 1-2 tablespoons of coffee, yielding 12-16 ounces of brewed coffee.

The 185 Wave dripper is for when you need that venti size coffee. Try 2-3 tablespoons of fresh ground coffee and ideally your yield will be approximately 16-26 ounces of brewed coffee.

Kalita
Kalita offers one of the most trusted drippers in the world of pour over: the Kalita Wave. This Japanese manufacturer started by producing paper coffee filters in 1958 but soon went on to produce a wide range of Japanese coffee makers and accessories. Now, the Kalita Wave line of pour-over coffee drippers is one of the most beloved tools in pour over brewing. Seattle Coffee Gear is happy to offer these popular drippers, plus Kalita’s proprietary filters and servers as well.

My favorite for travel!!

The 155 definitely is much smaller than the 185, but I'd say it's just small enough where you're not sacrificing any brewing quality for portability!! Both are sturdy, stylish, well designed and make an amazing cup of coffee!!! The kalita 155 is great for throwing inside bag for camping/travelling, or even using a caribiner to clip onto the outside of your bag!

Love my stainless steel Kalita Wave

I really love my stainless steel Kalita Wave. It’s everything I was hoping it would be. Easy to clean, light weight and makes a beautiful cup of coffee. Getting rid of my Keurig and all that plastic it is made of. I also ordered the white filters that go with this and they arrived in perfect shape and work great. I am going to order another one for a back up and for travel in case they stop making these in a few years. This is perfect for me. Just the right size. I am the only coffee drinker in my house.

It is just what I wanted in a quick pour over device. The shiny aesthetic kicks it up an extra notch. Thanks, Kalita!

Excellent pour over

Very easy to make a fantastic cup of coffee with this pour over! Highly recommend it! The only downside is that the filters have to be ordered or use something that may or may not work well!

Excellent

This thing works really well, the only thing I don't love about it is the price but I was tired of using a plastic pour over as a person who drinks so much freaking coffee. I would recommend this device to anybody looking for a nice quality piece that looks nice in the kitchen.

Product description for 155 is inaccurate

It's a good dripper, but it definitely doesn't brew as much coffee as the description says. Try searching for "Kalita Wave 155 recipes" and you'll see that this dripper is best used with 12-20g grounds, yielding smaller cups of brewed coffee (6.4oz to 10.7oz).To test this, I put 23g of grounds in mine today, to see if I could get ~12oz of coffee out of it. But the filters are so small that there isn't much room for water. It was close to overflowing and ended up brewing too long because I had to pour the water ~10g at a time to prevent overflowing.Yesterday I used it with 12g grounds, which made a delicious 6.4oz cup of coffee. But I bought this thinking I could make a 12oz cup.

A SWEET LITTLE COFFEE DRIPPER

Love it! It's a real beauty, too. Was surprised at it's size, but have been adapting our #2 filters until we run out, then will buy #1s. Feels so much safer than pouring hot water through plastic!!! And that's why we moved to stainless steel!

Makes the perfect cup of coffee!

Love my Kalita Stainless Steel Dripper for making pour overs. I originally bought it to use when traveling because I dislike hotel coffee, but now I use it to make my daily cup of joe. The coffee is so bold making it this way. I bought the coffee filters that go with it in the correct size, but I switched to unbleached coffee filters. I bought the 8-12 cup size. I pre-wet my filter and use enough coffee grounds to make 16oz, so the larger size works perfect. It takes me about 10 mins in the morning to heat water and complete the pour over process, but it's well worth it.

LOVE it. Wish I would have purchased sooner.

So much better compared to the plastic filter we were previously using. Wow! Get it, you won?t regret it.

The Better Way to make your "Bean Juice"

My "Hi-O-Silver" Drip Coffee Maker! Being very human, I've busted a number of those porcelain drip model coffee makers before finding this stainless-steel beauty. One would have to mess-up 'Big Time' to begin to really hurt this one. Check out the Kalita drip maker reviews and if you travel a bit, consider whether having a nearly indestructible model is worth avoiding breaking your lesser drip maker and/or having to get by using that motel coffee maker?By the way, there's NO 'metallic taste' whatsoever, despite what one reviewer mentioned, just imagine all the cooks who use stainless steel pots & pans enduring metallic tasting meals...

Tastes better than the glass version!

Terrific. I had a glass version which broke. This is more durable, and the coffee tastes better!

Solid

Fantastic flat bed pour over. It was a learning curve coming from a hario v60 but I eventually got the technique down with time. Glad I got the metal one and not glass or ceramic

An excellent way to make pour-over coffee

A solidly-constructed dripper. (I decided to invest in stainless steel so that it won’t break if dropped.) Almost foolproof, consistently delicious coffee. Beautiful design.

Makes a mean cup of coffee, however is not quite as good as the Hario or the Chemex in my opinion. It seems rather forgiving, and could be a good option for someone looking to get into the pour over game. I was on the edge w/ 4 vs 5 stars - what tipped me over is that it is the “cutest” pour over we have. The little wavy filters make your pour over look like a lil bitty cupcake :)

Bought for travel--now a daily staple

Easy and convenient to use, and makes great coffee! My husband and I like very different types and strengths of coffee, and we both actually agree that this gizmo makes an excellent cup, as we can control strength of the brew per cup. We initially got it only for travel, but now are using it every day at home cause it's so easy and consistent!

Kalita Wave 185 - recommended

Looks great, works great. Works better for smaller amounts, it would be pushing it to brew much more than 500ml through here. Recommended.

Does the job

Works good. A bit small but the larger one was not available.Meets my usual need of making one cup and it won’t break when I drop it like my old glass one!

Best piece of metal I have invested in (other than my espresso machine)

I have an espresso machine but still like to do pour over. Knew that I did not want ceramic (drop and break, chip, its early in the morning what can I say) so went with the Kalita (185 size), you cannot go wrong with stainless steel! It’s just the right size to make 16 oz cup (most medium travel size insulated mugs) just pre-heat and wet filter with some of your hot water, dump in your ground coffee, you will need to figure out what grind works best for your taste (currently what works for me is 25-28 grams of coffee to 390 grams of water but thats just me) have dropped it a couple of times run it thru the dishwasher (top rack) and it has survived.

Legit Pour Over Experience!!

Love this pour over. I think the flat bottom design is a must. Once you get the coffee to water ratio down you will experience coffee as it is meant to be!

Obsessed

#Obsessed. I am not a pro, just a simple Saturday and Sunday morning coffee girl & this pour-over set has completely changed the game. All of a sudden I’m being asked where I buy my coffee when I share some with friends, but ain’t nothin changed but the drip(per)!

What size filters do the 155 and 185 use? And can you give me water volume of drink in

H

Is the Kalita 155 make enough coffee enough for a 10oz mug of coffee?

How many holes are in the bottom of the larger size (185)? My Melitta has 4 holes and I'm wondering this will drip at the same rate. Thanks!
