Lavazza uses a modern process of decaffeination with carbon dioxide that does not diminish the flavor and aroma of the roasted coffee beans, a potential downfall of the Swiss water process. The use of carbon dioxide and pure water also avoids the use of potentially harmful substances in the decaffeination process.

You probably instantly recognize Lavazza, since it’s one of the world’s biggest and most beloved coffee roasters. But did you know that Lavazza is also one of the oldest coffee roasters, too? It was founded in 1895 by Luigi Lavazza and is still administered by the Lavazza family today. That means they’ve had over 100 years to perfect their craft!
For Lavazza Packaging Changes, Lavazza says: "We are constantly reevaluating our portfolio to offer the best assortment, experience, and taste to our customers." - Updates to the design of the packaging is common, if you have any concerns please let us know and we can verify you have the correct item.
For Lavazza's compressed or slightly puffy packaging on whole bean coffee, Lavazza says: "All bags of Lavazza coffee are fitted with a patented one-way valve allowing air and naturally occurring gases to exit the bag, while preventing oxygen from entering. This patented technology preserves freshness and the organoleptic properties of all Lavazza whole bean coffee. Depending on where the bag was placed on the pallet during transport, you may receive either a puffy or compressed bag, however both of the presentations are vacumm sealed."
For pre-ground coffee, Lavazza says: "All bricks of Lavazza coffee are fully sealed when shipped by our warehouse. If you squeeze the brick and no air exits, the seal is fully intact and the brick of coffee is fully sealed and there is no impact on freshness or preservation."

Excellent flavor for a medium roast
Very good quality
I like this mixed with a dark caffeinated bean for a half-caf. It's chocolately and very smooth. Very nice coffee but I think it's becomming significantly over-priced.
I mix this with Peet's Italian Roast to make a semi-caff coffee. It works beautifully.

This has been my favorite decaf for a while, with rich taste and good crema. Granted, I prefer the taste of regular coffee but get jittery with more than one shot of regular. Also, Lavazza Dek beans are not oily so can be used in my automatic espresso machine.
Good flavor profile. Works well in a super automatic machine. It seems to have low caffeine as having a cup of this decaf doesn't keep me up at night.
I love the Lavazza DEK. Yours is about 5 months old, which is better than when I've purchased elsewhere and the delivery was really fast. Your shipping charges were also less than elsewhereLavazza Dek has a slightly sweet taste rather than the bitter taste of some espressos..It's all I drink.
I really disliked this coffee. It is very bitter and burnt tasting. I tried it a few years ago and thought I remember a negative reaction to it, but figured I'd give it a 2nd try. I will not be buying this again.
Was expecting less than wonderful (since it is decaf) but was very happily surprised. Lovely, full bodied, delicious.
Our Lavazza Dek was excellent. We have been buying the Lavazza from the same vendor (Seattle Coffee Gear) for several years and we have never been dissapointed. Excellent product, service and delivery. When we were in Europe, many of the restaurants used Lavaaza and we have been using it for more than 10 years and we will continue to do so. Thanks SCG. Lavazza Dek is tasteful and doesn?t taste as a decaf coffee. I would recommend it.

Great decaf product, consistent and reliable. We mix Dek 50/50 with Super Crema to create our own “half caff” blend, perfect solution for our needs.
Very nice full flavor which is hard to find in a decaf.Use it in my super automatic espresso machine.Will buy again.
