A decent machiine, with a few quibbles

We purchased this machine to replace a Saeco Incanto De Luxe that had served us well for >9 years and 16k cups. It had developed a leak somewhere and the repair shop told us that they couldn't get parts for it anymore. The mechanics of the Philips (Saeco) 4300 are similar to those of our previous machine. We did have some problems initially when we adjusted the grind to very fine (the way we had our Saeco set); the pucks were wet, sloppy, and did not fall into the bin. We were advised to move the grind to a coarser level and that took care of the problem. But we wonder why it is possible to set the grinder to a fine grind if the machine won't operate properly at that setting. We also think that, at the coarser setting, the coffee has less body than what our old Saeco produced. We miss the option to set the machine to turn on at 6 a.m. That used to be part of our wake-up routine. And we also wish the machine wouldn't turn off automatically after a maximum of 180 minutes. We wish we could set a time at which the machine would turn off (we used to have that set for 8 p.m. with the Saeco). All in all, we're satisfied but . . . we liked our old Saeco better and wish we could have kept it operating.
