The manual Philips has a list of the icons and their meanings on pages 20-22 - https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/cdn/shop/files/philips-espresso-1200-3200-user-manual.pdf - That icon being on was referring to the grounds bin being full or the machine thinking it is full, apologies for any inconvenience caused by the machine.

I purchased this same refurbished machine from Seattle Coffee gear about 5 years ago and I can say that I am 100% happy that I did. The machine works so well and is everything I wanted and more in a super automatic machine. I use the Lavazza Super Crema whole beans and have never had any major issues with the machine. I highly recommend this 5 years later and I am also glad I purchased a refurbished machine so I was able to save some money.
Terrible. So sorry I purchased a refurbished because I cannot return it.The espresso is too weak and the pucks are all water. I also cannot get the wand to foam the milk no matter what technique I change to. I loved the Intelia Deluxe I had but no parts available for repair.Might as well get a Nespresso.
I wanted an espresso machine, my wife wanted a Nespresso. This is a compromise we're both happy with. She gets easy push-button coffee, I get to select my own beans, customize the grind and enjoy a creamier cup of espresso. Will it make better coffee than a dedicated espresso machine? No. But comparing it to a convenience coffee machine like Nespresso or Keurig, this wins hands down. It's a bigger investment up front, but we'll break even in less than 6 months with the lower cost per cup vs pods, even with high quality beans. I was somewhat skeptical going into it, but I'm quite pleased with the quality. Overall we've been extremely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for the convenience of a Nespresso without the cost and waste of pods and the added bonus of being able to select your own beans.

It wasn't fully rehabbed as didnt work correctly -fully. Returning it so not great experience as hassle. Customer service was good but not as good as getting it right 1st time.
Absolutely wonderful. My coffee is rich and hot. The machine is compact and I love the self cleaning feature before and after I use it. The water tank is easy to fill. My Vienna Saeco was gifted to my sister who is very appreciative. I enjoy making my own rich coffees yet I still visit Starbucks because its fun to try their new drinks. Win win.
Love this machine! I've had it a few months now and never had any problems. It makes great coffee and espresso with a decent crema. I love that I can adjust the coffee strength and cup size. The milk frother does a great job, even with almond milk, which is not always easy to foam. It's very easy to make a nice creamy foam. Just insert the wand and wait until the metal pitcher becomes hot to the touch and the foam should be perfect by that point. I love that everything is automatic without dealing with grinding, measuring, and tamping by hand. The machine is relatively quiet too. I had a Breville Barista for a few days and returned it. It was hard to use and tweak for optimal brew, very messy with grounds all over, and the frother was so extremely loud that it hurt my ears. Very annoying, especially first thing in the morning. And I did not want to have to think that much just to make coffee. Using this machine is a breeze. I appreciate that the size is relatively compact on the countertop. The Breville looked cool but was a giant monster and not ideal for a compact kitchen.

I got a refurbished model and it was in great shape- just missing the water filter which seems to be in short supply right now. This is one of those purchases that I should have made a long time ago. Beyond the convenience factor, it really makes a great cup of coffee with a nice layer of creama. Friends have a Delonghi, which I searched out initially, but this machine is every bit as good, if not better.

The Carina does not appear to have a temperature selector button. What is the temperature setting as compared to the 3200, which has a low medium and high setting? In other words I am wondering how hot the coffee from the Carina is.
I measured it at 185 F this morning
Our machine is shared by eight people. No one has complained about the coffee being too hot or too cool. It produces a drink that is better than one of the machines that uses pods
I've had other Saeco with the temp selector and always just left it at high. Temp on the Carina is as hot as previous machines (my house, cottage and one for my son), it's just dandy. Always, always remember to warm your cup or mug! And Seattle Coffee Gear has been a great retailler, all my machines are refurbished and all are perfect.

Yes, the grind level is adjustable. The instructions are in the manual, though I have never felt the need to adjust the grind yet.

Yes, you can! I just add enough to use for the day + a little more. I never liked the idea of leaving beans exposed to air in the chamber. That was it's relatively fresh and you can adjust the grind. I think I have it at #2 with 1 being the finest.
