Where’s the Mark?

The only thing better than a Rancilio Sylvia is a Rancilio Sylvia from SCG at a big discount. The “manufacturer mark” is a tiny, almost invisible scratch to the left of the on button. If you use a flashlight and get up close you might be able to find it. Maybe.

This is the fourth one we’ve purchased - for a house, condo, cabin and boat. That should say it all. We’ve had others in the past, but none perform like the Rancilio.

Difficult to master, but lots of coffee and practice and you’ll get it

This machine takes time and experience to master. I find frothing milk to be fairly difficult to create good micro foam. The time between steam and pulling a shot is lengthy and cumbersome. I’m enjoying it much more now that I’m getting the hang of it, but it has taken several bags of coffee and much disappointment to get to this point. I would recommend the Breville Barista Express over this unit if you’re looking for an entry level machine with not much hassle. It’s cheaper, easier, and makes better micro foam in my opinion. The upside of the Rancilio is it is supposed to be built well and last a long time. I guess time will tell...

Great price and condition, except one issue

Great price! $588 for a new Rancilio Silvia is pretty hard to beat. Even better: I saw zero evidence of it being "manufacturer marked" anywhere, except for one thing (why I'm taking off a star). The water tank inside was broken. I'm glad I caught it before I tried to fill the machine the first time! But SCG came through for me and sent off a new replacement tank that I received within a few days. It was a hard, long wait for me though!

What marks are there that make this a lower priced item?

Pop N.

I just got the machine and it looks flawless in my opinion. I was trying to see if there were any marks around the machine, but I couldn't find any. You get it wrapped in the white plastic cover just like a brand new machine.

I just got mine this week, and I have absolutely NO idea what marks they’re talking about. Mine looks perfect!
