Overview

This 8.5mm replacement gasket can be used in an espresso machine with an E61 brew head, which conveniently includes all Rocket Espresso machines.

The gasket around the brew head should be changed every year or so to ensure a good seal between the portafilter and the brew head during extraction. A major sign that the gasket needs to be replaced is if you notice water leaking over the top of the portafilter during extraction.

Please note: Replacing this gasket is part of the normal wear and tear/maintenance of the machine and is not covered by your warranty. Please only purchase this to install if you feel technically skilled enough to do so, as we cannot provide any technical assistance over the phone.

Doesn't exactly fit my Giotto

I purchased this gasket Nov 2018 and I could never get the portafilter to end up at 6 o'clock. Mine is at 7 or even more to the left of 6 o'clock. It's even slipped out while pulling shots a few times. I've called SCG a few times and their response was that the portafilter eventually will get to 6 o'clock with wear over time. I understand this concept completely but it hasn't happened with mine, with my machine being used daily for almost a year and a half. I question weather I have a defective/wrong thickness gasket. SCG is still my go to for gear but just disappointed with this item.

Best customer service

I purchased the smaller size gasket and the team at SCG was so nice to help send out a replacement to the 8.5 mm. works prefectly on my E61 grouphead and now the portafilter is at 6 o'clock. In addition they were so patient with my other orders that we personalized for my older Rocket Giotto (I purchased a stainless steel cup rail). I am so happy with their service. They got a customer for life.

Great quality

It was very east to install. Once installed the seal provided an excellent seat against the housing resulting in a drip proof outer ring of the portafilter. The portafilter locks very tightly in place.

Essential PM

This gasket is a small item. It shipped fast and was installed by me on the same day. This is essential PM for your machine. NO LEAKS AND BETTER COFFEE!!!! Life changing!!!!

Best Price and Performance

The gasket installed correctly around the brewing head but the portafilter wouldn't go on without a lot of pressure initially. Once I got it on I had no problems after that. Everything works like new. This is the best price and quality that you will find on the net for a brewing gasket replacement.

Works on Gaggia

I needed to replace the group gasket on my Gaggia Baby Twin which is seemingly difficult to find parts for in Canada. The staff at Seattle Coffee Gear were friendly and as helpful as they could be. I bought this gasket to try my luck, and it fits perfectly. This will probably also work just as well on a Gaggia Classic.

So impressed by the fast friendly service. They knew exactly what part I needed and sent it overnight so we weren't without coffee too long. Will definitely keep their info around for next time we need help with our machine. Thank you!!

for some reason the SCG ordering page does not mention specifically that it fits the rockets. i called SCG to make sure (they told me it does) and can now tell you first hand that it does. a bit hard to get in place (maybe there are secrets i dont know... yet) but once done all works great! :-)hey kat and gail maybe a video on how to do this the easy way? ;-)Pros:Cons:

Is 8.5mm work for Apartmento?

I have replaced a 8.5 gasket for my Rocket, but it is sooo tight and hard to get to the 6 o'clock position, is this normal?

Michael M.

I had the same experience but it has not been a problem. I just rotate until it feels snug.

Customer

Mine rested approximately three degrees left of 6. After a year it hasn’t clocked to 6. Still 3 degrees left.

Michael S.

Yes. A new gasket can definitely feel more snug, especially when cold, for a while but should loosen up with use.You should ensure that your gasket is seated up into the group-head correctly and flush with the interior of the threading assembly groove surrounding the screen. If you're able to get the portafilter to tighten into the grouphead, this indicates you're good to go. There are plenty of videos on youtube that illustrate this activity.Best of luck!

O.R.P.

Yes, completely normal. It will work it’s way in. As long as the seal is good, no worries.

Customer

Same thing happened for me. I've just settled for not having it at 6 o'clock and havent had any issues. When I replace it again, however, I will likely try a different gasket.

Customer

I have the same issue and I was told that it was normal at first and would ease after it settled, It never did and I still can't get it to the 6pm position with my main portafilter I use after months. With a different portafilter I have that I use for back flushing it fits fine. I think I would order an 8mm next time though unfortunately I bought two when I ordered this. Maybe they can just send me an 8mm since it never panned out like they said it should.

Danner P.

From my experience. It just takes some time for the gasket to wear in.

Michael M.

The gaskets come in different thicknesses (8mm, 8.5 and 9mm) to accommodate wear on the portafilter ears. If the 8.5mm is too tight, you should try the 8mm.

Customer

Yes

Customer

I bought the gasket as a backup but haven't used it yet. Like to have replacement parts on hand.

Justin M.

It's not supposed to clock at 6:00. It's supposed to be offset. If it's 7 or 8, if fits properly.

Is this a 58mm gasket?

Stephanie A.

Yes, it will fit a brew head for a portafilter that is 58mm. It fits several brands, but needs to have the E61 brew head, such as Rocket, Izzo, and Quick Mill.
