Overview

The Rocket Brew Head Gasket works to seal the portafilter into the machine, and keeps the pressure where you want it – right on the puck! This 8mm OEM gasket matches the sizing of gaskets used on brand-new Rocket machines, so if you've had your machine for a while you may want to look into sizing up.

Part number C449900229.

The gasket around the brew head should be changed every year or so to ensure the seal is maintained between the portafilter and the brewhead during extraction. A major sign that the gasket needs to be replaced is if you notice water leaking over the top of the portafilter during extraction.

Check out our Rocket Tune-Up Kits for a complete kit with everything you'll need in regular replacements.

Please note: Replacing this gasket is part of the normal wear and tear/maintenance of the machine and is not covered by your warranty. Please only purchase this to install if you feel technically skilled enough to do so, as we cannot provide any technical assistance over the phone.

Very good quality fits like a glove everytime.

Height/seal seems off compared to OG gasket

This gasket was recommended to be a direct replacement for OG gasket by SCG webpage chat systems. However, it needs to be at 4pm position to fully seal. Seems slightly shorter than OG height wise and doesn't seem to sit as well. Tried several times with SCG video guides but still seems off. Wished it came with a spacer system to adjust height slightly.

Works well

Weeks well enough and fits well. Can be hard to get off when needed.

Easy to install.

Perfect fit and necessary to replace the old one as it became very hardened making it difficult to place the porta-filler.

Back to working like new.

Easy install, recommended

Does what it's supposed to! Do yourself a favor though and get the spacer too just in case. If you don't wind up needing it you can make an earring or tree decoration.

Should have bought this six months ago. Stopped all the leaking around the portafilter and brew head on my R58.

8mm better than 8.5

8 mm works great. No bypass like with the 8.5 mm gasket for a 2016 R58 machine

Fits Rancilio Silvia

I've used both this 8mm Rocket gasket and the 8.5mm gasket in my older Silvia. Both fit, but the 8.5mm doesn't let the portafilter lock on very far (I used it for six months, so it's usable if not optimal). The 8mm Rocket seems perfect for diameter, shape, thickness, and firmness; I don't know how a Silvia-specific gasket would be better.

Good product and good price

Bought this gasket for my Rancillio and it was easy to install. It secures my portafilter a lot better than the old one. No drips around the portafilter and seems to help the brewing process.

8mm gasket

I waited till the last minute to change this part that is till I saw water dripping in and around the porta filter on a shot. The rocket gets used a lot and this is a must to keep the thing going a long time. The old gasket actually becomes hard and brittle. This maintainance is very easy to do . You tube has how to vids. Thank you scg

Got this gasket for 1 reason, & it worked!

My normal E61 gasket is 9mm. I've found that, when I use pods/pod adapter basket, shots pulled too fast. The 8.5mm Rocket gasket allowed a bit more 'squeeze' of the pod against the brew head, & slowed things down nicely. This change has had no obvious effect on non-pod espresso, just the normal grinder-tweaking. This gasket has a nice, soft feel; cannot comment on expected life-span.

Will this work on a Saeco Sirena?

Miranda G.

No, sorry, you will need a Saeco Sirena tune-up kit, so that the brew head gasket is appropriate for your model. Every manufacturer and model will have a slightly different fit and dimension, so it's important to get the right one. You can find the Sirena tune-up kit here: https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/seattle-coffee-gear-tune-up-kit-for-saeco-sirena

Is the diameter of this Rocket brew head gasket the same for a maybe 4 year old Cellini? I think the original is 8mm thick.

Michele B.

Yes, this should work. We have 8mm and 8.5mm

Will this fit the Ascaso Dream?

Stephanie A.

No, this will not fit the Ascaso Dream. If you need the brew head gasket for the Dream, you can find it as part of the tune-up kit, as that is the only way that we carry it:https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/seattle-coffee-gear-tune-up-kit-for-ascaso-dream

Can this be used with the Rocket Espresso Evoluzion Giotto v2? It's a E-61 brewhead, I know you guys have a 8.5mm one for that, but always seem out of stock. Will this do? Will it affect the espresso making experience?

Teri K.

We offer the 8 and 8.5mm gaskets in Tune-Up Kits that include a brew head screen and some Cafiza. The Tune-Up Kits for both sizes are below, and you can use either in your Rocket machine. We include a .5mm spacer when you purchase the Rocket 8mm Tune Up Kit, as the different size gaskets result in different positions for you portafilter handle. We explain this further on the item listing which I have also included below with those Tune-Up Kit links. The 0.5mm spacer is included in this (8mm) kit, because your E61 Brew Group and your portafilter could have a certain amount of wear and tear that you are unaware of. Both the E61 Brew Group and your portafilter are made out of chrome plated brass. Eventually, the portafilter locking channels in your E61 Brew Group and the portafilter 'ears' on the portafilter begin to wear away. The result of this is a very small amount of extra space in your brew head. How do you know you need to use the spacer? After you've installed your new 8mm brew head gasket, does the portafilter need to go past 6 o'clock (pointing directly at you, which is preferred by most users) to make a seal? Do you need to turn the portafilter farther to the right to make a seal? This means your E61 Group Head and your portafilter are experiencing natural wear and tear. Next time, we suggest purchasing the Seattle Coffee Gear E61 Tune-Up Kit with 8.5mm Gasket. You will no longer need a spacer!https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/seattle-coffee-gear-e61-brew-group-tune-up-kit-with-8mm-gaskethttps://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/seattle-coffee-gear-e61-brew-group-tune-up-kit-with-8-5mm-gasket
