Happy my dream machine lives up to it!

The Machine arrived within a week of purchase and in better condition than I thought it would be. I expected a dent or two, scratch marks or something else marring the finish. The only way I knew it was open box was the accessories were not perfectly packed like you would get from the original manufacturer. I had a little scare when I followed the instructions for initial setup, I wasn't patient enough when waiting for the pressure to build. I wasn't sure there was adequate water in the boilers and didn't want to risk overheating an empty boiler. Once I realized everything was working I was seriously relieved. The Rocket R58 was my dream machine once I started researching upgrades to my Gaggia Classic. The dual boiler, gauges, ability to plumb it, manufacturer's reputation and overall look is what attracted me to it. The fact that there is no pre-infusion and the location of the control display are my only knocks to this machine.I've had this for about a month now and I've compared the espresso shots a few times to my Gaggia. There is a difference, not an over-whelming difference but a better shot overall. My wife asked if I had buyers remorse. I answered "Not one bit"!

Excellent Espresso

The coffee machine itself is undoubtedly excellent. Initially, I was concerned that an Open Box item might be damaged, but this R58, while showing some signs of use, is still in very new condition. The packaging looked a bit worn, but thanks to SCG's ample foam padding, the machine arrived undamaged. The performance of the machine is outstanding. It takes about 10 minutes to heat up and start brewing, and it extracts perfect coffee. At the Open Box price of $2500, I believe it fully deserves a five-star rating. However, I was quite disappointed with SCG's payment process. I placed a total of three orders, all of which were canceled. I tried using my own, my family's, and my friend's credit cards, but none could pass SCG's payment verification. In the end, I had to use a debit card to make the payment. If it weren't for the great value of the Open Box deal, I might not have been so persistent in trying.

Does the R58 have a commercial rotory pump ?

Jake B.

Hello! The R58 Cinquantotto does have a rotary pump that is suitable for commercial use. It is similar to the pump used in the 1-Group Rocket Boxer. However, the machine is not NSF certified so we do not recommend it for commercial use in cafes or coffee shops.
