Not what I ordered. VERY disappointed with Seattle Coffee Gear.

I ordered a Rocket (O.Sca.R) by Bill Osmotic as shown in the SCG display, and received a BWT pad which is useless as it does not soften water nor does it filter it. This type of ?pad? needs to have water funneled through it to work effectively. And it only last two months compared to the O.Sca.R which last at least six. See the attached pic to see how it looks in real life. Most SCG customers like me, are probably not too happy with this change.

I've replaced my BWT for the rocket reservoir filter. It's affordable and I've had no issues so far. Will buy again!

These are great filter pads I would not use my espresso machine without them.

Cleanest water

I live in the country and have well water. Although I have a water purification system, I use this filter to have the best quality water for the coffee and to preserve my Rocket espresso machine.

I will see how it works but I was surprised that it does not sit flat on the bottom but rather floats around like a dead fish. So the water does not actually filter thru it. I did call Seattle coffee gear and confirmed that this is what it actually does.

Rocket filtration - good insurance!

Why not have the extra insurance of filtered water and avoid calcification? I just took my machine in for a check up and the espresso repair guys said it looked clean -- no service necessary after one year of use.

Water quality..

Something necessary for the rocket!!

These packets are great to help keep calcium out of your machine. Since Rocket does not recommend descaling, you have to get the calcium out of the water.

Good for hard water

In Florida and the water is very hard here. Seems to help

Must have

This is required to keep your boiler free of mineral build up.

Squeaky Clean

We have had our rocket appartamento for a few years now and it started to develop a hissing sound from inside the machine. We thought that we were going to have to ship the machine to be fixed or replaced altogether but in a last attempt to help the machine we ordered these filters. We would have had them from the start but did not know they existed. We always fill the machine with filtered water but a build up must have developed causing a valve to not shut properly. After just a week with one of these filters in the tank it has completely solved the issue. MUST HAVE!

This actually works !

I have very hard water and this filter is the first thing I've found that actually reduces hardness and produces clearer, better tasting water. Highly recommended.

Wish I knew about this product before!

Already notice a difference even though it’s only been a week. Best surprise was the quick delivery.

Well, I suppose it's OK, except that there seems to be no way to directly measure it's effectiveness I thought that it might lower the TDS, but that is not the case; TDS remains stable no matter how long it sits.

Protecting my boilers.

It was just what I was looking for to protect my new espresso machine. It will take years to know how well it works!

It is as pictured. But it is not an end all be all solution to water softness, or calcium removal. Just to be clear. While awaiting my Apartmento (it is currently on back order) I have purchased a water hardness titration kit, and have been trying various, lower cost options to treating my water. Untreated it is 14 grains. So step 1 has been to use a BWT Vida pitcher. Adds Magnesium.Step 2 was a GEESTA ion exchange filter in my Breville Duotemp..Step 3 has been the Rocket ion exchange packet in questionAfter all three treatment methods I have gotten the water down to 6 grains. So to be clear, this does help. But since the water does not directly pass through it I can't be certain how effective it is, i.e. X reduction per liter, in Y time. If you get where I am going with this.

should be working.

bought a "Musica" from SCG, just want to protect the boiler, mot sure it works but I do trust SCG recommendation a small investment for a peace of mind.. Rocket product and SCG is a good combination.

Let's see what happens!

This is one of those things where if nothing happens, you like it a lot! I never had any problems with the mineral content of my tap water until I got an Appartmento. It literally threw a fit the other morning, blowing out through the relief valve (glad that works) with no other incidents. Since Rocket doesn't recommend descaling, I hope this does the trick.

L
Larry
Do they work?

I certainly hope so! I'm on medium-hard well water and not only do I use a Britta water pitcher for the tank water, I also use the Rocket filter floating in the tank. I guess it's suppose to soften the water, reducing scale build-up. After a little over 4 years I haven't had any problems with the R58 so hopefully the two filters are doing their job!

J

Worked for me.

Im not sure if it was the filter or the grind but after putting in the filter i got a much smoother pull. So, 5 stars.

Great product

I have been using this product for a couple of years. It saves a lot of work and protects the valuable Rocket Giotto machine from the build up of harmful minerals. According to the video on SCG website, Rocket recommends against descaling their machine. So by using this product and filling the water reservoir with filtered water, you can eliminate the time consuming and messy descaling process.

E
Ed R.
Easier than scaling, for sure

After about 8 years of use I took my machine in for service. When it was returned to me, the technician showed me a bag full of corroded parts that he had had to replace as a result of scaling. Now I use this instead. Too bad they didn't tell me this years ago!

G
Gary R.
It seems to work

I use filtered water plus this water reservoir filter for my Rocket Cellini V3 with PID. It has been almost three years and I've never decalcified the machine (as per SCGs advice).
