I purchased this new PID Controller for my six year old Rocket R58. The backlight on the original PID failed, making it very difficult to use (I had to shine a flashlight on the display to view the characters--otherwise it still worked). Technical support told me that they are not repairable. So I ordered the replacement. It was simple to attach to my espresso machine, and works fine. Two comments: 1) it is so much larger than the original (photo attached). This was a bit of a surprise. 2) There is no tactile feedback to the buttons. You just keep pressing until you get the desired effect. I thought it was defective at first, but it seems to work properly. It's just a bit disconcerting, and took some getting used to.

I had an older Rocket v58 purchased in 2013 whose earlier version PID was not functioning. I ordered this one crossing my fingers that it would work. It did! I love the way this more contemporary Rocket PID works seemlessly with my machine to give me the control I desire. I appreciated the guarantee that I could return it to Seattle Coffee Gear if it hadn’t worked. Thanks!
