Overview

Prep for the heat once a week with the Toddy Cold Brew System. The large carafe size lets you brew up to two weeks worth of cold brew concentrate. Simply add water or milk, ice and go! Each filter can be reused up to 10 times, that's almost a year's worth of coffee!

How the Toddy Cold Brew System Works

  1. Insert Stopper - Insert stopper from the outside of the brewing container. Adding the stopper from the outside of the container will allow you to remove and release concentrate when the container is full of coffee grounds.
  2. Insert Reusable Filter - Dampen the reusable filter and insert it into the inside bottom of the brewing container.
  3. Add Water and Coffee - Add approximately 1 cup of water into the bottom of the brewing container. Next, add approximately 6 ounces of coarsely ground coffee. Then, in a circular motion slowly pour 3 more cups of water over the coffee grounds. Once complete, add 6 more ounces of coarsely ground coffee. Lastly, wait 5 minutes and then slowly add the last 3 cups of water.
  4. Do Not Stir - Toddy recommends not stirring the grounds, as this may clog the filter.
  5. Lightly Press - Since you are not able to stir, Toddy recommends lightly pressing on the topmost grounds with the back of a spoon to help completely saturate the coffee grounds.
  6. Brew and Wait - Allow the coffee grounds to steep for 12 - 24 hours.
  7. Drain - Once steeping is complete, place the container on top of the open glass decanter and remove the stopper from the bottom of the brewing container. Allow the coffee concentrate to fully drain into the glass container. The coffee concentrate will stay fresh for up to two weeks in your refrigerator.
  8. Enjoy! - Because the Toddy brews a concentrate, you will want to add either cold or hot water or milk to make a deliciously smooth drink. Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Must for Iced Coffee Fans

Works exactly as advertised. It makes a really good concentrate. Working on getting just the right bean to get what I’m going for but so far, so good:)

Great For Iced Coffee

Could not be more simple and the results are amazing. I drink a lot of iced coffee, so decaf is a must. Using the included water/coffee ratio (56:12 I think) I get a deep, almost syrupy brew in 24 hours. I more than stands up to the ice and half & half.

Smooth Coffee

I purchased mine about ten years ago. Have tried other methods of brewing but none have been better tasting or as smooth. Best coffee I have used so far has been 100% Columbian & make sure to use filtered water. 16 oz. of coarse grind with 9 cups of water for 12 hours to end up with 4 pint fruit jars of concentrated coffee.

Good not great

Good product for someone who make a lot of cold press. The handle is flimsy, you have to use a chopstick to get the filter out of the bottom of the brew bucket, you have to refrigerate or freeze the filter between uses, removing the stopper to allow the brew to drain is fiddly and your fingers get coffee on them, and the paper filters (if you choose to use them) are more expensive than you would expect. There must be a better design with none of these downsides, without compromising cleanability.

It’s ok

There a lot of felt debris in the brew :-(

Great! So convenient.

I was making my cold brew coffee by soaking the grounds in a lexan with a gallon of water. My husband bought this after seeing it on America's Test Kitchen. It is a perfect replacement. I love it, it makes great coffee and the clean up is so easy. One batch lasts about 2 weeks.

Great coffee syrup for hot or cold coffee. Simple, cheap, and long lasting. Mine is over twenty years old! Rince the filter, soak in vodka and let air dry if you don't plan to use it for a while, or freeze. My filter is over twenty too! Mix the coffee with water, or anything hot or cold. I was going to upgrade but I still am unable to find anything that compairs. Throw away the handle, my carafe, long broken so I use my Mr Coffee pot to drain the juice. Tried others; don't waste your money. I think I paid $10 over twenty years ago. Any grind, I like fine grind and 24 hour soak, and don't drink it straight you'll be up for days, I was!

Overall Great Product!

I purchased the toddy for personal use and it is really nice. Easy to make the concentrate and fairly easy to clean. The plastic feels a little flimsy, but beyond that I recommend it for anyone who wants easy iced coffee.

How much cold brew does this make?

A

How well does this work with decaffeinated coffee? I have read issues elsewhere that the concentrate comes out weaker. Thoughts?

Which grinder(s) would you recommend to use with this brewer?

Parker

Baratza Encore grinder at a #25 grind setting works great for me. Don't even need the paper bags, the felt filter is perfect by itself if the grounds are large enough:https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/baratza-encore-grinder

Customer

A grinder that has a coarse grind setting.

How do you replace the filter once you have used up the ones that come with the cold brew pot?

William M.

Soak & rinse filter.

Deb S.

I recommend cleaning it throughly out it in a ziplock bag and place in freezer. Remember one filter is good for at least 10 brews

Cynthia B.

You just have to buy new ones. (We rinse ours out extremely well and air dry them before reusing them.)

Customer

Replaacement filters and the plug can be ordered from the Internet or Seattle Coffee
