Key Features

  • Conical Ceramic Burrs - Ceramic burrs stay sharp longer than steel, and a drop-through conical shape ensures low retention after grinding.
  • Travel-sized - The diminutive Mini Mill packs easily for travel with a small catch bin and removable hand crank.
  • Stepped Grind Adjust - Adjust your grind setting with a couple of clicks on the burr-mounted grind adjust.
  • Tool-free Disassembly - Removing the bottom burr is easy, and the rest of the grinder comes apart by hand.
  • Reinforced Handle Connector - A reinforced hexagonal connector at the handle is less likely to strip compared to earlier models.

Overview

An updated design makes Hario's new Mini Mill better than ever! Starting with a scratch resistant smoky gray case and catch jar, the new Mini Mill brings a cleaner, updated design over the original's black and clear casing. A reinforced hex nut at the handle offers a sturdier grip less likely to strip out than the original, too. The same ceramic conical burr and stepped grind adjustment remain, offering a great introductory grind for brew methods from French Press to Aeropress.

Served me well. I used it for v60. Had to ditch it at the airport but I would buy it again if i needed another.

It’s a great little grinder. I’m using it on the road.

China grind.

I love it! Don't care for the fact that it was made and imported from China but that is on me. It works great.

Good small grinder.

I've been using it at work for about a week. It does a nice job grinding coffee for a pour over filter. The grind quality is not as consistent as my old Baratza Solis Grinder. Using the hand grinder to make one or two cups of coffee is a breeze, but I am not sure I would want to do more than that.

lasted 4yrs

I bought mss-1 hario hand grinder. It was durable. The only down side was the handle would eventually grind away the axle point til it was round and no longer grinds. I'm sure if my husband didn't grind the coffee I could of made it last 2more years. But the burs are still good and so are all the other parts. For 40 bucks it was well worth the price and lasted quite a bit.

A fine grind and perfect for pourover

I've had one of these for six, maybe seven years. For making one or two cups of coffee, it's perfect: put in the coffee, turn the handle. It's become a quiet, relaxing ritual in the morning. I wouldn't use this to make cold brew by the pitcher, but that's what my electric burr grinder is for. This Hario looks great on the shelf, has a tiny footprint and feels solid and sturdy in use. What's not to like?

What size is the hex end?

Bailey H.

My 1/4 inch hex key (the largest I have at home) is just slightly too small to fit with the handle on my grinder. The measuring tapes I have at hand don't have marks more precise than 1/8ths, but I reckon it's 9/32"--certainly not large enough to be 5/16".

Is this grinder suitable for espresso?

Wyatt B.

No, it doesn’t grind nearly fine enough.
