I have had the Kate for about 4 days now and I love it. I went from having a super automatic machine for many years just pushing buttons. I wish I would have switched over many years sooner. It was a little bit overwhelming in the beginning. I got my grinder dialed in perfect at 18 grams and pulls perfect rich shots of crema every time! Milk frother works great too. Easy to maintain and keep clean with huge drip tray.love the water reserve feature too.Everyone at Seattle Coffee Gear was great as usual
I've had the Kate for about a week, and it's close to perfect for our use. I'm coming from a couple Breville machines and a Saeco machine with built-in grinders, and although the Kate is more manual, it's better than the Breville and Saeco machines in pretty much every way. The only thing I miss about the Breville machines is the nice tamper and its little hiding place right on the machine. But the Kate simply makes better espresso, and specifically Americanos, which is what I drink most. I used to have a Rancilio Silvia, which was wonderful. But our counter had trouble accommodating both the espresso machine and grinder, so a built-in grinder is a must. The Kate's quality of espresso is very close to the Silvia.
Absolutely worthwhile! I know some folks get hung up with combo machines but this is well done. The grinder is so quiet and easy to use. The timer and pre-infusion are a huge help. Coming from a manual press, this has everything I wanted and is tunable. It did not take long for me to dial in and get the crema I was looking for.
Arrived with a broken tank. Had to go through entire RMA process just to get a working machine. Not very good quality control to send out a unit brand new with a huge crack in water tank that spilled water everywhere when filled first time.
