Great Machine

After a year my review is it's a great machine. It makes any shot repeatable. It's the only machine that can pressure profile and be programmed. For pulling light roast it's a must. A few profiles I use are set to volumetrics about 38g. A my basic profile has 10 seconds of pre infusion at 4 bar then jumps a to 8. After 15 seconds it t drops pressure every 5 seconds 7,6,5. As the puck is getting washed out the pressure drops down. B has a 30 second pre infusion of 0.1bar then extracts. C never pulls over 7bar D starts at 9bar. As you grind lighter roasts they tend to either pull too fast or slow. Longer pre infusion and different pressure profiles can extract evenly. It's satisfying to watch the machine change to match the coffee and play with things like a Turbo Shot or Slayer shot or some of the other popular methods.

Loving my R9 One

This machine is beautifully engineered and designed with clean lines and well appointed features. My favorites are the hot water mixing valve to set just the right temperature and the real time pressure graph of the extraction. The pressure profiling control is unlike any other. I make the most delicious Latte's and Americano's and my two barista kids rave about the excellent shots it pulls.

Peak of home espresso from Rocket

I've owned this machine for a little over 6 months and overall it has exceeded my expectations. I love the ability to switch between manual pressure/flow profiling with the knob versus pre-programming profiles into the machine when you find a profile you really like. You can make endless shots back to back with no loss of heat or steam pressure. I can't see myself looking for another machine for a long, long time. I added some olive wood accents from Wiedemann and it looks absolutely amazing.

The last machine you need to buy

I previously owned the Rocket Giotto R which is a great machine but the R Nine One is a significant step up, in part due to pressure profiling. It is impossible to pull a bitter or terrible shot and love all the opportunities to explore different pressure profiles. I wasn't sure how difficult the programming would be, but this is easy and the touchscreen works well. Pairing with the Eureka Atom 75 made quite a difference over the Specialita which surprised me. If you are truly into pulling amazing espresso, this is the machine for you.

The R NINE ONE is not for the faint of heart.

Your set up video is amateurish and does not come close to explaining the intricacies of this machine. Your technical support is clueless concerning this machine, Aryan is the only person who is helpful and knowledgeable about the r9 one. You need to have Aryan make some videos explaining the the many complexities and capabilities of the r9 one. The manual is also very cursory and needs to go into more details regarding how pressure, time and volumetric settings interact with each other. The machine itself is wonderful.

The best!!

This machine is beyond expectations!! Playing with the profiling is absolute fabulous! I bought the black version and it compares very good with my Malhkonig K30. Just a perfect pair! The machine is not very dificult in operation as long as you know what you doing.

What is the cup clearance for the hot water spout?

Jake B.

Hello, The cup clearance when the hot water spout is relatively flat to the drip tray is about 4.5". When fully tilted up, you have about 5.25" of clearance. You could tilt it sideways a bit to get a little more clearance than that, but we do not recommend as it increases the risk for scalding since the water flow may be irregular and sputter more than usual.

Is the wand cool touch / double steel insulated?

Jake B.

Hello! The steam wand on the R Nine One is insulated and have teflon tubing on the inside.

Does it have a rotary pump?

Patrick C.

Hi there,No, it has a variable speed pump which is of the same quality as the rotary pumps found in the R58, but different in terms of operation.

Iis the stated height of 17" to the top of the steam handle ?

Matt H.

I just measured mine. It is 16.75" from the counter to the top of the steam handle. 17" is probably the bare minimum under cabinet height to fit the machine. You'd probably have to move the machine to fill the tank if you're not plumbing it in.

For the R Nine one. Is ok to keep it on all time?

Bryan S.

The R Nine One has an auto on/off timer built into its programming. So I would recommend utilizing that feature to save power and have the machine hot and ready during your normal coffee making times.
