The best cup of coffee I've ever brewed

This coffee maker is easy to use and brews truly fantastic coffee. This was my household's xmas present to ourselves, along with a selection of high quality beans. With our previous coffee maker pretty much all coffee tasted the same, but with the Moccamaster you can really taste the subtle nuances of different beans. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot and fragrant for hours. I love this machine.

Too many compromises for the price.

If you prefer a stick shift car and still listen to vinyl records, the Moccamaster is for you. This is a totally manual machine and that part I don't mind. But for $300, I expected more than just a copper heater element. Yes, the coffee is hot and tastes pretty good. The carafe with the travel lid keeps the coffee warm for an average amount of time. What I find annoying is what other reviewers have mentioned; the flimsy plastics and poor design. The footplate is thin and doesn't stay fixed to the body of the machine. Annoying and an easy fix. The reservoir lid is thin, with no hinge, and takes a bit of maneuvering to snap into place. The brew basket is also the same lightweight plastic and the manual drip-stop/slow-drip switch does not have distinct indexing so you wind up moving it up and down to get the right setting. The shower arm is about an inch too short so doesn't evenly cover the coffee grounds. Finally with the travel lid on the carafe, you cannot seat the carafe back on the footplate. This would require an engineering adjustment of a scant 2mm! Finally, for this premium price why not build in a bloom setting that would turn off the heater for 30 seconds and start it up again as well as a buzzer to tell you the cycle is finished. Both would require simple electronics that would not greatly alter the build cost of the machine.

Great coffeepot!

We took our previous favorite Bonavita to our cottage and bought a new one, but their design change to a flat basket did not produce the same quality coffee so we returned it. After reading the reviews, decided to splurge on the Moccamaster and we absolutely love it. Looks sharp and makes an excellent cup of coffee!

Makes great coffee just can’t keep it hot

This unit does make a great cup of coffee. Easy set-up and use. I have a small glass I put the destratification tube in after brewing so no mess. The problem, and reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the thermal carafe can’t keep the coffee hot past 1 hour. I don’t understand and am disappointed that a coffee maker that cost this much doesn’t have a better carafe. I’ve had much much better carafes from coffee makers costing a lot less. So you’ve been warned.

Easy to use and makes great coffee. We would give it five stars if it had automatic shut off. We limped along with Mr. Coffee for years so we are happy with our Moccamaster!!

Simple but elegant design makes the perfect cup of coffee

I am a coffee snob who grinds his beans fresh and uses filtered water for my coffee every morning. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect drip coffee maker and have avoided this unit due to the cost. BUT, after going through 1 new and 2 used eBay Bonavita's and then an Oxo Barista Brain that I was disappointed in I could've easily paid for the Moccamaster so I finally decided to bit the bullet and I am SO glad I did. I was impressed that Seattle Coffee the black model in stock and it arrived quickly. Set up was super easy and you can tell these machines are built very well. The design is simple yet elegant and it brews a pot of coffee very quickly. It lives up to all the hype...it brews the best cup of coffee I have ever had!!!! There is button on the bottom that the carafe pushes in to allow the maker to brew and stops it if you decide to get a cup in the middle of the process. If you don't push the carafe all the way against it it will stop the brewing cycle. The only real issue and it is a small one is that once you put the top on the carafe after it has finished it will not fit back under the filter basket. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for a good long time. If you love the perfect cup of coffee in the morning do yourself a favor and invest in this machine. You will NOT regret it!!!

I'd forgotten what good coffee is

I had quit drinking coffee about 8 months ago. It had just quit tasting good to me. I gotten a cup of coffee from a small shop in town and it awoke my taste for coffee again. I tried a cup at home the next morning and again, it was blaaa. I started researching coffee makers and found the Moccamaster. It seemed like every review site I looked at had a moccamaster. The price was more than I wanted to spend, but I thought buy once, cry once. I received the coffee maker 3 days ago. Since the I've had some of the best coffee in my life. Now I'm going to start experimenting with different types and grinds. I just love the quality of the coffee and the simplicity of the machine. It doesn't have a big learning curve. Just add water, a filter and grounds, then in just a few minutes you have a pot of wonderful great tasting coffee or as we call it now "Nectar of the gods".Thank you for letting me enjoy my coffee again.

If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. This is an exceptional company. I couldn't be happier wit...

The coffee is incredibly smooth, rich, and consistent every single pot. For the price, the quality is exceptional. My daughter owns a $2,500 barista machine, and I honestly thought that made the best coffee I'd ever tasted. Then I bought the Moccamaster-and I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoy the coffee from this machine just as much, if not more.I also love the design. It's beautiful on my countertop, doesn't take up too much space. It's obvious this machine was thoughtfully designed. Brewing coffee couldn't be easier, and it makes my morning routine something I genuinely look forward to.Also Seattle Coffee Gear's customer service. They have been outstanding-professional, friendly, quick to respond, and they truly go above and beyond to help their customers. Great customer service is becoming harder to find these days, and they exceeded every expectation. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. This is an exceptional coffee maker backed by an exceptional company.

Best coffeemaker I've ever had and 73 years old

I am not presently in the market for a coffee machine but am looking to see how much has changed since I bought my technavorn mocamaster just over 13 years ago. Made 2 to 3 pots a day for the first 10 years mostly 1 pot a day since. I clean the pot and machine when needed and have had no problems making great coffee everyday. I only replaced the grounds cover after dropping it a fifth time and it cracked . I m always told how great my coffee is no matter from the can or fresh bean. I decided to shop just in case this one decides to ever retire on me. I'm happy I got the stainless pot instead of the glass . My son bought one years ago and still uses his trouble free also

It's the best coffee maker! The coffee is piping hot and the carafe keeps it hot without making it bitter.

Family Coffee Fun

I bought this for my daughter and her husband after they drank coffee from my son's coffee machine. My DIL makes coffee twice daily and she's had theirs for over a year. Both couples love it!

We finally have a great coffee maker!

The Technivorm KBT coffee maker is a no frills, well designed device that makes great coffee quickly and is not imported from China. I especially like the heating element controls that instantly depower when the reservoir empties. The glass lined carafe keeps coffee hot much longer than advertised. My only minor complaint is as the coffee cools, the sealing cover pulls a vacuum and needs a bit of force to unscrew. The coffee hopper has a failsafe design. If you accidentally move the three position hopper lever to the sealed position, a well designed spillway drains the unfiltered coffee completely into the pot. Coffee was drinkable, a little chunky, but the counter was clean! If you like good coffee, this coffee maker makes great coffee quickly. It is a joy to watch in operation and produces a full pot of coffee in 6 minutes.

Excellent, as advertised. Makes great coffee and is simple. Wish it had automatic ?Off? as I forget sometimes. Love the carafe, keeps coffee hot for 2nd mug.

Needs a contoured pour spout on the carafe and wish it was a bit more compact but otherwise we love the brewed coffee!

Excellent Brewer -- No disappointments

There's no questioning the quality of this brewer. It shouts quality construction from the moment it's pulled out of the box. Another way to describe it: It's built like a tank. The quality of the coffee it brews is excellent. One minor wish would be to have an automatic bloom pause feature like the Breville. This unit offers a manual option to achieve the same result, but it involves adjusting the basket aperture lever to the closed position while the unit is still brewing, This isn't a big deal, and some may even question whether they notice any noticeable difference between blooming and and not blooming the grounds. The only real issue I have with the unit is that the brew basket aperture lever doesn't move smoothly as it shifts from 100% open, to 50% open, and then closed, and is difficult to adjust while the basket is on the machine. But this is really only a minor criticism and not significant enough for me to give is less than 5 stars. The carafe is well insulated and like the rest of the unit, is exceptionally well designed and constructed. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the Breville, but the coffee is brews, in my opinion, is just as good. I have no doubt that this brewer will be making great coffee long after I've departed for the great coffee shop in the sky.

Simply excellent

In a nutshell, believe the hype. This coffee maker is an exercise in simplicity and that is a very good thing. Yes, it has some plastic parts. But, it brews an absolutely wonderful batch of coffee and is easy to clean. It also looks damn good. The carafe comes with two lids, a pour through lid that stays on during the brew process and what they call a travel lid that completely seals the carafe to maintain hot coffee longer. When the travel lid is on, the carafe cannot be placed back under the drip mechanism. Genius. I can see myself forgetting that the travel lid is in place and hitting go to make a pot, with the ensuing mess to clean up. I do not miss an 'auto-stop' feature that would pause the drip if I wanted to pour a quick cup without waiting. The brew cycle is fast, so it's just not an issue.

Makes amazing coffee. Simple to use.

I did a lot of research before buying this. I found incredible positive reviews and some negative ones. I decided to give it a try. This is an amazing and simple to use machine. The only negative I can think of is that it uses paper filters and I don?t like wasting paper. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours. I?m not sure what people expect beyond that. I use a Baratza Virtuoso at an 18 grind setting. It makes great coffee. I find it works better when you fold the flap of the filter and face it toward the handle of the filter holder. Not sure why that is. I highly recommend this and am looking at this listing right now because I?m about to buy another one. I like the simplicity of this machine. I?m not interested in getting a PhD to figure out every setting on a Breville. ;)

Overpriced coffee maker with flimsy plastic parts

The machine is very light weight. The parts that are plastic are flimsy. The metal decanter is made well but lacks appropriate design to pour into cups or coffee mugs without making a mess. The coffee that you brew tastes wonderful but a regular coffee maker would suffice. Overall it?s an overpriced and overhyped coffee maker. If we had been able to see the unit in person and the cheap plastic components we wouldn?t have purchased this. Hopefully the coffee maker lasts a very long time for the large price tag.

Top-notch Cuppa Joe

Works great, high quality, and makes a top-notch cuppa joe. Wish we would have gotten the glass carafe instead of the steel, mainly for looks and because we usually drink up pretty quick, but not a big deal.

How about a sticky

Great coffee maker. Looks cool. I have had mine for over 10 years. I have replaced a few parts. It will make a little, or a full carafe with equal goodness."The carafe will not keep coffee hot". This can be overcome by heating the carafe with hot water and waiting but come on, what an easy fix. A certain company comes to mind that they could copy and make a awesome thermos carafe that would fix the #1 complaint. Now lets nitpick. Nope. Not going to do it..................

LOVE this coffee maker, I was mildly skeptical that the results would be measurably better than those from our previous machine, but the coffee produced is just fabulous, the whole family noticed the difference immediately. Yes, worth the price.

The best darn coffee maker

This is really a great coffee maker. It is so simple but yet makes the best coffee ever. Never over oxidized or over extracted. There is so little to go wrong with I that I expect it to last many years. I love the insulated pot as I can take it to my office after I make coffee and have it right there1
