Absolutely LOVE this grinder. Perfectly designed for my morning coffee brewing. My setting gives me exactly how much coffee I need... ground to my exact setting... and shuts off when it reaches the right amount of coffee I need... and the grind is perfect, uniform.

The machine is solid, well built, nice footprint.

I had been thinking about this exact grinder for a few years and finally pulled the trigger... so happy I did.

Amazing!!!

Excellent coffee grinder

Used for about six weeks. Select positives, consistent grinds (size, uniformity), moderate noise level, ability to quickly set the weight of grinds and accurate weight output, overall quality. Minor negative; required initial adjustments to adjust the burr spacing to obtain espresso. Overall, excellent product that does everything expected.

Nice grinder. worth the money

nice machine that is much quieter than my Breville was. Breville makes a screechy noise the whole time. I find I have to grind fairly fine to get decent yield in my Zojirishi drip machine. I'm grinding at 3-M when I used to use 44 out of 54 on my Breville. I suppose I'll need to calibrate the burrs.Nice even grind, and the scale functionality works well, though the catch canister does not sit completely snug in the opening to allow float for the scale to work. As a result, you'll get a couple grounds under the catch canister that you'll have to wipe FTTT. Have only made one Espresso shot with my Rancilio and ground too fine. I'll need to tinker with settings to get my yield right, but overall, it grinds well for both drip and espresso, which I what I wanted.Overall, a little pricey, but worth it as I see this as a 10 year investment.

Great brew grinder

Quieter and more even grind than our old virtuoso. Grind by weight is fantastically convenient

Great grinder with wide range!

Overall, I?m pleased with the new Vario W+. I?ve had a Baratza Sette 30 for years and wanted something with more range and (hopefully) a little quieter. The Vario W+ does both very well.Pros: quiet, wide range of grind, intuitive controls, a large bean hopper. The lighted grind cup is particularly nice.Cons: considerably slower than the Sette 30, which isn?t a surprise since this is a flat burr grinder vs the Sette?s conical burr.Highly recommend.

Most wonderful coffee grinder

Just got this a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It exceeds my expectations. The consistency of the grind, the precision of the weight, the flexibility of the grind size and target weight are all excellent. Sometimes I have an extra cup of coffee in the afternoon just to watch it grind. Compared to my previous hand driven burr grinder the coffee tastes better due to the precision of the grind.

Commercial quality in a home grinder

I previously used a Baratza Virtuoso, but decided to upgrade. I mainly use an Aeropress with the occasional French Press. Doing everything by weight, the included scale of the Vario W+ was a major attraction. Being able to save 3 weight settings makes that even easier, plus it's accurate down to a 10th of a gram. The motor is strong but much quieter than my previous grinder, and the consistency of the grind is impeccable. Mostly metal construction and very high quality plastic components means this thing might last me a lifetime. My only complaint is that I couldn't get it sooner because it was back-ordered.

Is this a good grinder for drip coffee or is it mainly for espresso?

Customer

Works great for both espresso and drip. One thing surprised me, each different type of coffee bean seems to have a different perfect setting, I play around a bit evrytime I change.

What are the major differences between the Vario W+ and the Forte? Can the Vario+ grind for both cold brew and espresso (Rocket)? Thank you.

Patrick C.

Hello! The Forte is engineered to withstand the demand of a commercial environment, so the casing uses more metals and less plastic. This is the different for the price increase. We've been really impressed by the Vario W+ and feel it's absolutely a great home grinder choice. You should have no problem grinding for cold brew and espresso with it.

Can you get a single dose hopper for this? I am only interested in pour over and not expresso grind.

Customer

Yes, you can. Seattle Coffee Gear carries Baratza's first party Single Dose Hopper accessory, compatible with the Vario (W). https://theseattlecoffeegearhot.com/baratza-single-dosing-hopperI own both, for reference.
