Perfect for making single cup pour overs!

This is great for making single cup of coffee with fresh grounds. I don’t have to weigh it each time I make coffee. Saves time and an extra step. For under $100, this is a great grinder.

Excellent Grinder

I purchased this to replace the same model I was borrowing from a friend. It is an awesome grinder and can produce a very good espresso grind! One piece of advice. I saw a previous review where it was suggested to get a replacement impeller as the OEM one will wear out and jam the grinder. When I got my new unit I found that Breville has upgraded these grinders and the new ones have a stainless steel impeller now!! No need for a replacement.

Decent, but most likely discounted for a reason

I bought this one steeply discounted and now wonder if that was for a reason. So far, it works as expected (works well - not a $2,000 model, not a $40 Target model), but I am having one issue that I plan to address with the manufacturer. The unit makes a high-pitched whining noise any time it’s plugged in (not running, but just plugged in a idle) that is very subtle, but to me very annoying. It’s like my kitchen suddenly has tinnitus.

Worth more than the price

Bought two, one for myself and one for the Mrs. She does espresso through the Gaggia classic set at 25 and I do drip through a Bonavita connoisseur set at 35 Works beautifully for both. If you were wondering, the impeller is metal not plastic.

Very good addition to my 870XL Barista Express

I still dose this grinder just like the integrated one on my Barista Express...some static retention on plastic, but not too much. Didn't take long to dial in for my espresso drinks which are mainly milk drinks. Getting a dose funnel, which will help with that. Not a hi-end expensive grinder, but much more versatile than integrated one. Would recommend to someone depending on their set-up!

New to the coffee scene

After one week of use I am quite happy with this Breville grinder. Easy to use and clean. Does not make much mess. Great fine grinding. Coarse grinds are finer than I expected but I bought grinder to go with the Bambino Espresso maker which I am waiting to arrive this week. Great product. -J, NY

Outstanding Customer Service

We love our Breville Burr Grinder. The first grinder we received had a defect from the manufacturer. Two emails to SCG later (the person we communicated with was helpful, professional and friendly) there was a new grinder on the way and a return label for the original in our inbox. It was the kind of customer service that invites us to be return customers and we are.

Best Budget Grinder

Very easy to setup and use! Plenty of adjustment to go from espresso to pour over.

No bells or whistles, it just does a great job grinding coffee. Initially when I turned it on it was extraordinarily loud, but it calmed down. It does make a very faint humming sound when not in use. The noise doesn't bother me, but it reminds me that it is obviously consuming energy when plugged in . It's on sale, do yourself a favor, pick one up now, instead of gradually climbing up the grinder ladder.

Works great

We use it for espresso and the result tastes great. Grinds in about 10 seconds and is fairly quiet.

Ok so far with frequent cleaning

I grind espresso only with this and run it through a gaggia classic. At about 8 clicks off the finest setting I get somewhere around a thirty second pour. The problem I have is that every 10 double doses or so, the burrs clog and the coffee gets so fine that the gaggia can't pump it at all. Disassembly and cleaning every 10 doses is not fun! I roast my beans to city plus or bold city so there's no oil.

works great

for the $$$ this is a great mill.I've had a affair with Miss Sylvia for over 10 years and always use grinders at the shops and they have always been good here.It was all ways hard to get a really good Espresso shot for a quickie, but is little jewel did the trick and breve's are next level now.I haven't named her but she does make a little noise when i hit her button ??

I like it.

It's smaller than it looks online - grateful for that. Oh, my...what a difference a good grinder makes. I had a little issue with putting the hopper in. I think for the prices it is a great grinder. I had narrowed it down to three and this was my top pick. I like I can grind right into my own container or filter. Big plus! The bottom is very weighted so it doesn't travel all over the counter.

Worthwhile Addition to My Set Up

We have two other Breville coffee makers - a drip brewer and an espresso maker. Both have integrated grinders. But when I want coffee for a moka pot, or pour over, or decaf, or some other roast than my standard go-to I use this grinder. In fact, I like it so much, I’m always looking for excuses to us it.

There is a cheap fix to worn impeller problems

This guy decided to take things into his own hands and went through various prototypes for a replacement impeller before settling on version 4, which is now available for sale here: https://www.shapeways.com/product/NASLAGCCP/breville-coffee-grinder-impeller-upgrade?optionId=59828416It's around $15-$20. So if you're out of warranty, instead of throwing it out and buying another grinder, you can replace the impeller. Even better - replace it early and get ahead of the problem before you stress the machine even more from jams. The page also comes with a guide on how to take the machine apart and replace it (takes about 30 minutes).

good if information properly provided

I had the same issues mentioned by other users where clogging occurs pretty quickly. What most users do not know is that, there is a hidden Breville video or suggestion, to grind some raw rice grains. Move your settings to the coarse most setup. Then run a cup of dry raw rice grain through. this will push most of the coffee jammed out. This solved most of my problems, not requiring to dismantle anything. still running good after 2 years.

Great grinder

I love this little grinder, it works great. A previous review stated the bottom burr was not removable and difficult to clean. That is true, however, good coffee beans are often very oily and any grinder will require some extra cleaning. All I do once a week is probe the slots below the bottom grinder with a pipe cleaner. Lots of grind gets caught in that area and could easily jam if left uncleaned. It doesn't state that in the instructions. Just a few minutes a week is all it takes to keep this grinder in top shape!

Can I use this for a coffee maker?

Jeff N.

For sure. I use this grinder for espresso, pour overs, French press and drip coffee. I found the the grind settings can accommodate all.
