Key Features

  • 60mm Flat Burrs - Large burrs make short work of pulverizing beans into a uniform distribution.
  • Sound Insulation - A metal case and a design dedicated to quiet motor and burr sounds make the Atom a great choice for quiet spaces.
  • Timer Based Dosing - Set grind times for both single or double shots.
  • Removable Bean Hopper - Boxy like the rest of the grinder, the Atom's hopper is easily removable for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Manual Pulse Grind - Grind on demand with a dedicated pulse brew button or the portafilter button.
  • Portafilter or Basket - The Atom comes with a dedicated grounds bin for drip or pour over preparations.
  • Stepless Adjustment - With nearly infinite burr settings, the Atom offers fine control over grind size.
  • Digital Screen - An easy-to-read digital screen makes set up and control even easier.
  • Removable Top Burr - The top burr of the Atom is easily removable for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Bottom Burr Adjust - Adjustments happen at the lower burr, so your grind setting will be saved after cleaning.

Overview

Eureka lives up to their namesake with another inspired grinder—the Atom! Instead of focusing on speed, (though it's quite fast) consistency, (though it has fantastic espresso distribution) or ease of use (though it is, in fact, easy) Eureka has shifted focus into making a truly quiet grinder. This is the grinder for a house of light sleepers, apartment complexes or romantic cafés. Short of a hand grinder or a hiding place in the garage, you'll be hard-pressed to find a quieter espresso grinder on the market. This marked dedication to sound insulation pairs with fine stepless grind controls, time-based dosing and an easy-cleaning design shared with other Eureka-designed grinders.

Excellent - consistent, quiet and fast

Well made machine - solid. Very quiet. I won't have hearing loss now due to the loudness of my old grinder. Also, it is very fast. Don't have much to go by as I am upgrading from a Ascaso I-2 grinder. This is not cheap but it is money well spent. Also, it is pretty tall. Love it.

Happy with the Eureka Atom!

Very consistent, quiet grinder! Love the simplicity. Only downside is you have to keep the clear hopper full of beans to keep downward pressure into the burrs. Great purchase.

Great step up from my Rocky

I got this to replace my Rancilio Rocky since it was stepless, and also LOVE the chrome since it matches my Giotto. Now that it's dialed in the shots I'm pulling are night and day difference. The Rocky was great, but this has really helped me step up my quality. Not a cheap purchase, but so worth it if you're serious about your coffee game. Extra points for the noise insulation. I live in San Francisco so of course I have roommates. I don't feel guilty making early morning coffee anymore with the lower noise levels (its spooky quiet.) and they really like the coffee too. 10/10 so far.

Completely unusable as a single dose grinder.

I read several reviews that indicated this grinder could single dose. They are absolutely incorrect. The grinder is designed to have beans pushing down through the grind zone. The more downward force, the more uniform the grind is (to a point where it maxes out). I know this because as the hopper becomes empty I need to adjust my grind setting finer and finer to achieve the same grams in/out/time. In addition, the very last popcorning beans to grind will likely clog the chute, and yet the pull will still run too quickly. The grind is very poorly uniform when the hopper is empty. It is useless for my intended workflow.I will say it is a great grinder otherwise and I hope my review doesn?t scare others away who intend to use it for normal, hoppered grinding. As long as there is roughly 50g of beans in the hopper it?ll work great. 2-4g of retention. Extremely quiet, good ergonomics and UI. A bit annoying to open up, but overall I like the grinder quite a bit in a hoppered work flow.

Good grinder when it works.

I've had this grinder now about two years. At first it was fantastic, but over the last year it developed a problem where it only grinds one time when turned on, after that the timer counts down but it doesn't run. I've seen a number of people post this problem as well. Besides that, the grind seems inconsistent with respect to quantity produced while it's running. I'm not sure whether the gravity feed doesn't deliver beans consistently, or there's some other issue, but I end up with different weights of ground coffee for the same timer setting, and have to then go to manual to make up a few grams of difference. Though I've cleaned the chute, it's also started to deliver clumped grinds, not sure why. Finally, good luck finding someone local to service this, and the cost to send a heavy grinder across the country and back is pretty significant, plus the cost of the parts to repair it, probably not worth the effort. I expected more from an $800 grinder.

Very rapidly and quietly creates perfectly uniform fluffy grounds let’s settle in the Porta filter and wants tamped create a perfectly uniform puck and a beautiful extraction.

Nice and Relatively Quiet

Relatively quiet compared to other burr grinder I've heard It is not easy to move from filter to espresso grind accurately. It feels like the grind's coarseness and volume changes over time, and with the type of coffee used. The volume ground also changes with the grind size. All this makes it hard to have a consistent cup of coffee

Messy

The grinder works well for what it is intended for and it is quiet. However, the grind chute design is very poorly designed. It plugs up often and this morning I think I had more coffee grounds outside of the filter basket than in it!! To work well it needs to be cleaned often, and even at that it doesn't work well for very long. Fix the chute design and you might had a good grinder.

Outstanding Home Grinder

I am new to Espresso, after reading and watching many reviews I bought the Atom and love it. Its very quiet, makes a consistent grin, it is very easy to use. After I finger out what I was doing I made my first Cappuccino!. I bought the chrome one and it looks great next to my Rocket R58.The only down side I have found is the shape of the hopper, beans sometimes don't fall down and I have to rearrange them, but I can see why the hopper is in the shape it is, because they where trying to keep the overall height down, it's a tall grinder even with out the hopper on.For a home Espresso grinder I don't think you can go wrong. I would buy it again.

So Good!

Got this to replace Rocky that was finicky and messy. This is not only neat (hardly a grind falls out), but it’s waaaay quieter than I expected. A must. Feel like a pro.

Great home espresso grinder

First, the grinder fit on our countertop with 3/4" to spare. Whew. The grinder is so quiet that we can finally talk while grinding. And I mean at a normal volume. Our previous Sette 270w was so loud that it stopped conversations in other rooms.Next, it was easy to learn and a joy to use. Once dialed in, the grind is perfect for our Rocket R58. Basically no clumping and almost no spilling of grounds.I know that the portafilter holder isn't the greatest for all models, but it hold the rocket one, even the bottomless portafilter without keeping my hand on it.It grinds quickly and the hopper holds more than enough beans if you like your beans to stay fresh. The cost was not that much more than our previous Sette, but I would have to say the difference is dramatic.

Cannot express how dead silent this machine is when there are no beans compared to my Sette 30. Very quiet grinding

Eureka! You’ve found it

Upon Gail’s personal recommendation, I got the Eureka Atom to pair with my new Rocket Giotto and couldn’t be happier. Since I live in an apartment, the quiet operation was a major selling point. As this is my first foray into espresso, I wanted equipment that would allow me to experiment and learn, while offering durability and a high quality feel. The Atom delivers on all accounts. It’s sturdy, super quiet, and infinitely adjustable. I also like that when cleaning you don’t lose your settings. I don’t love the shape of the hopper, however, as it does not allow for the best bean flow while using. I often have to open the lid and shuffle the beans toward the intake slot, but this is a sacrifice that I’m willing to make in exchange for the whisper quiet operation. The pause feature is also a major plus. Granted I am no expert, but the Atom is incredibly consistent and looks sharp on the counter too! I do sometimes wish that I had gone with the Gray color but the Black is a classic matte and looks great as well.

High quality and quiet

I purchased this grinder after becoming frustrated with the consistency and adjustability of my Baratza Vario. I found that at espresso level fine grinds, I was getting alot of channeling and poor feedback after changes to the grinder. After about a year of this I finally decided to start looking for a more professional grinder solution. The Eureka Atom is among various other ~$1k priced grinders but what ended up drawing me to this model was the quiet operation and ability to pause the grind mid cycle. The grinder really is amazing in how quiet it runs. I no longer have to be concerned about waking others up with a loud machine. Pausing the grind may seem like a simple addition but being able to grind, settle the grinds and then continue the grind reduces waste that can occur as the grinds will want to build up in a giant pile and often topple over if not paused. I do miss the ability to single dose and as others have commented, this is not a machine which will do well with single dosing. Even using the shut off gate to reduce pop corning, it still occurs and this machine does retain a fair amount of grinds. I have gotten in the habit of setting the single cup to 0.5 seconds as a purge before doing my actual grinding. I do wish that the screen would auto-shut off or at least dim when not in use but for now I have just been using the large on/off button on the back corner of the machine during each use.

Quiet, smooth, excellent choice

Very pleased. Family likes the quietness, which really is notable. V2, shipping now, has metal portafilter holder and anti-static de-clumper; no issues with clogging or clumping. Grind comes out consistent and smooth. Like the little details too, like the little light bar that shines on the grind setting control to give a much better feel for the adjustment. Glad I upgraded to the chrome for a nice aesthetic match with the espresso machine. Plan to have this for many years!

3 months of use

I bought the Atom when I ordered my Linea Mini. I previously was using the Rancilio doserless for the last 4 years which was excellent once it was dialed in. I only changed the grind when I changed to a different bean. It is a great grinder but the Atom which cost 3 times as much is a better buy especially with it stepless design. Finding the right grind as always takes time and patience but it really is terrific. The only issue is that the portafilter from La Marzocco does not work with the portafilter rest so you will have to hold it for approximately 8 seconds to get 17 gm of grind. Small price to pay for such a fabulous machine. The clear plastic is very thin and fragile so be careful with the bean hopper and lid. Otherwise those who buy this will be rewarded.

I have the Atom with 60 mm Burrs, I am wondering if I am able to order the 65 mm Burr set as a replacement set for this unit?

Ginger E.

If you do a search for 65mm burrs into a 60mm burrs there was an article telling how they did it. I’m not sure though. Sorry.

We have 2 of these Eureka Atom grinder. One for regular coffee and one for decaf. The one for decaf suddenly stopped turning on after nearly 3 years and the automatic button no longer work when pressed by the portafiler. If you play with the plug it makes a humming sound and will eventually turn on. Only the manual option function. It is been cleaned regularly at the same time as the other grinder. Any idea what could be the issue?

I use darker roasts, and am finding that to get the coffee where I want it ( 30 sec/30ml singles and 30sec/60ml doubles)- the grinder is clogging continually. I believe this is a bit of an issue with this grinder when using darker roasts coupled with finer grind settings. Anyone else finding this?

Is the "Blow Up System" available for the Atom?

A

Really specific question but what is the height with the lid off the hopper? My cupboards have lower trim and I've measured about 10 times and its RIGHT at 17.25" Once you get past the trim, there is about 1.25" more height. If I can get the grinder under the lip with the hopper lid on, I can put the lid on once it is in place.
