Great grinder. Was disappointed to had grounds inside the chamber and a small scratch since I paid for new.

It works outstanding. I use it for cold brew grind. It's very sturdy and not very loud.

Perfect for Pour Overs

Decided to upgrade from the Baratza Virtuoso + to the Fellow Ode Gen 2, absolutely no regrets. The Ode Gen 2 is quiet and with 64mm burrs is able to grind in fraction of the time compared with the Virtuoso +. Dialing in to the right grind setting was relatively quick and now enables the ability to discern light roast coffee profiles which I wasn't able to do in the past (Ode Gen 2 std burrs). Only down side to the Ode Gen 2 is it does leave a bit of coffee grinds on my counter. Kudos as well to Seattle Coffee Gear who was able to process and ship literally within hours of placing my order. Grinder was received within two days (shipped to San Diego) for which I was equally impressed.

Peace and enjoyment for morning coffee!!

This Fellow ODE Gen 2 grinder has brought me back (and smiling) to grinding beans for my morning coffee! I had abandoned beans after the cacophony of other (top rated) grinders got more and more on my morning nerves. This grinder is very quiet (there is a low hum, which is over so quickly you barely notice it - and it doesn't wake up the rest of the household unlike my former grinder). The workings of this grinder feel essential - no gratuitous electronic bells and whistles. Finally, the look and feel are great on the counter. My only blip is that I once did not get the cup for the grinder fully under the outlet. But that was just once - I now make sure I feel the cup catch magnetically. LOVE THIS GRINDER!

I love my new grinder, thank you SCG!

I've been making espresso for 20 years. I've always been happy with my Mazzer mini. Since I retired I've been spending many hours a day out in my wood shop. I needed to have a way to make good coffee without having to go back into the house and make espresso. I decided on setting up to do pour over for out in my shop. Doing pour over allowed me to shop for a grinder that didn't have to grind for espresso. I shopped around and looked at all the usual suspects. I was very impressed by the ode grinder. It was everything I wanted. It had a small footprint, is really well built and it's relatively quiet. Also all the reviews said it did an excellent pour over grind. My grinder arrived really quickly. I am very impressed by its heavy and well built feel. It looks nice and unlike my mazzer mini the ode creates almost no mess. The ode is also noticeably quieter. The ode quickly makes a very consistent grind and feeds all the beans in the hopper every time. It's great for single dose grinding. Even the self centering cup is really cool. I couldn't be more pleased with this grinder. The $320 price I got from Seattle coffee gear was the best price around. I was pleased to get such a god price from a business that is local for me. I budgeted $300 for a grinder and was really happy to get the ode for only $20 more. Now I'll have to find some whole beans that are optimal for pour over. Previously I would have gone online to the WLL website. Now I'm going to try to buy local and give Seattle Coffee gear a shot.

Jolly good Fellow Ode Coffee Grinder Gen 2

Great grinder, no mess, no fuss very quiet. Grind recommendations on the grinder inside top so you don't have to look for the instruction manual if you change to different coffee method. It doesn't do espresso, but I've found you need a grinder specifically for espresso. Happy with purchase, SCG customer service is excellent.

Ode 2 won't grind dark roast so Baratza was up to the task with the Forte

It wouldn't grind dark roast beans without getting clogged. It was returned and a Baratza Forte was able to step up to the task.

Great grinder for everything except espresso

After much research, I finally understood that I needed one grinder for espresso and a separate grinder for Chemex pour overs. This has been magnificent. It is easy to use and provides the perfect grind for the Chemex. This grinder comes with my highest recommendation. Also, Seattle Coffee Gear over-delivers. Fortunately, I do not live far from them. I placed my order for this machine and the Eureka Mignon Specialita Espresso Grinder on a Sunday, and they both were on my doorstep on Tuesday. That is service!! Thank you.

The grinder exudes quality. It grinds quickly. However, it does not grind as fine nor as consistently as my hand grinder. I brew pour-over and French press. Would buy again.

Beyond belief. Even more quiet than advertised. Anti static! Very efficient. Gets done quickly. Thank you.

Performance does not match up to beauty

I so wanted to love it. In going down the rabbit hole to find a grinder that performs well and looks great on the counter this one had every reason to be the one. But, it really struggles with beans that are medium to darker roast. I'm no engineer but it seems weird that it would power through Peets/Tony's with no sweat and literally stop half way through the same quantity of Cafe Vivace. I intended to use it only for Drip/Aeropress and it was annoying to have to grind for a single pot in batches or constantly have to restart it on one grind. But it is as lovely to behold on the counter as I had hoped. My ugly new Baratza performs flawlessly.

Excellent grind and just as important, so quiet. I was genuinely surprised and impressed. My old burr grinder was hitting 90db while this is hitting 80 or less.

Wish I'd bought this sooner

This grinder delivers as promised. High build quality, great design, truly superior functionality. Grind size is super consistent. It's fast, quiet, and clean. The auto shutoff feature is hugely convenient. If you're a filter coffee drinker this really is the perfect grinder. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but if you factor in how good it really is, the price is well worth it. My only gripe is the top on the grounds cup doesn't always seat just right. I have no hesitations recommending this grinder. Plus it has a 3 year warranty. Seattle Coffee shipped it super fast as well. Buy it now!

Great price for my daily driver

Coming from my 18 year-old Rocky grinder, it's very nice. I only use it for pour-overs. I only use very dark roast/oily beans and on occasion, it still won't let all the beans slide down the chute, is my only complaint. Love the magnetic cup and ease of cleaning compared to my Rocky. I have the standard burrs on my Gen 2; I did not upgrade the burrs, it's not worth it from the research I did.

Great and quiet grinder. Highly recommended!

Great grinder!- Consistent grinds, with much of clarity and flavors.- Really quiet, compared to my Baratza Encore.Highly recommended!

Good design, poor function.

Nice design, but poor function. Like other reviewers, I found it doesn't work with dark roast, oily beans. Rather than bang on it to get the beans to drop, I used a wooden chopstick to keep them moving. It also makes a mess of grinds all over. I'm moving on to see if I can find something that works and doesn't make a mess.

Poor quality

Coffee beans get stuck frequently which requires a large amount of time trying to unclog it. Finally stopped working after just a few months of use. Too expensive of an item for this to not work. Waste of money.

Ode G2 is a winner

Grinds clean & quick with pretty quiet operation. I love the build quality, especially at this price point.

Great Grinder

This was a definite upgrade from my Baratza Encore. It is smaller, cooler looking, quieter and makes less of a mess. I've also noticed the grinds seem more uniform. Does it make a better tasting cup of coffee? I'm not sure it does, but I still love this grinder. The anti static technology works well, but does not completely get rid of messy fines and there is a slight retention of grinds. I've read that the Ross Droplet Technique can help with that so I'll try that in the future.

Quiet and gets the job done

It's Quiet and fast. grind is very consistent and there is very little mess from remaining grinds to deal with on the counter top when done. It's compact on the counter and looks pretty cool from a design perspective.

JAMS UP and Does not work properly

While my Ode Gen 2 is truly a work of art, it simply does not work---especially if the user prefers dark roast beans like I do. Virtually every time I use it jams requiring me to WACK the sides of the grinder to clear the jam. On a $350 grinder? REALLY? While the staff at Fellow were very nice, they were not helpful. They told me that it might work better with medium roast beans. That might be true, but NOWHERE in the marketing material, website or instruction manual does it say that the grinder will not work with Dark Roast beans. I would never have bought this grinder if they had been truthful.

Not great, unfortunately. Definitely beautiful but for the price it's frustrating how often it jams.

A Worthy Purchase

The Fellow Ode Coffee Grinder - Gen. 2 is a lovely coffee grinder. Why I like it: it produces a great grind, is compact, fast, quiet, with minimal retention of grounds. I?m very happy with this purchase.
