Very very happy with this

Totally worth it. Add water, add grounds, push a button: boom I have excellent coffee in about 5 minutes. There are two lids included for this carafe: one for brewing and one that closes. The brewing lid keeps the coffee hot for a meal so I don't even bother changing lids. The closing lid keeps the coffee wonderfully hot for 3 hours, and drinkably warm for another 2-3 hours after that. It's very nice too as it only requires a quarter-turn to open and close after screwing it on. Pre-heating with hot water helps. I have zero complaints about the rim of the carafe: it pours a nice stream with either lid. I love the cone-filters it uses: I use cone filters in pour-overs so I only have to keep one type of filter in stock. Other consumer brewers have more features, but they still won't be able to make a cup as good as I can with a pour-over; so for me there's no point to buying them. I agree with Technivorm's recommendations of 55grams of coffee per liter: there is a chart included in the manual which is also available for download on their website. At some point I may buy an extra carafe from my favorite thermal vacuum container company. Adding a piece of tape to the auto drip-stop switch will make it work: it's just under the basket support arm. The other version of this actually has a user-controlled switch on the basket which would make using an alternate thermal carafe even easier (no tape required), but I still prefer this model. There's a second kill switch at the base needs to be held in by the carafe. Extra Technivorm carafes are available to purchase too. This thermal carafe version is better. My brother has the glass pot version which is messier and takes up more counter space. I envy his butter-yellow paint color that the glass pot version is available in, but when that pot breaks he'll have to order another Technivorm brand pot.The pieces all fit together nicely and the finish over all is excellent. No adjustments are needed. Technivorm chose to use PET for the plastic pieces which doesn't have the most premium look or feel but PET is the safest plastic to use for food so that's understandable.Lastly, this brews at gold-cup temperature. That means that if you buy stale burnt "dark-roasted" beans from a supermarket then they will taste no different or even slightly more bitter with this machine as compared to a cheap brewer which brews at lower temperature. Seattle Coffee Gear and numerous roasters offer coffee subscriptions if you have difficulty finding quality beans near you. This is the KBGT model purchase in January of 2023.

Best coffeemaker ever

Simply put, this machine will spoil you for all other coffee. It is better than any cafe or restaurant and you will from now on be disappointed with any cup of coffee you don’t brew yourself. My only complaint is that the filter basket can be tricky to place in the right position first thing in the morning!

Technivorm Moccamaster makes the best coffee. No extraneous bells and whistles are added to detract from the unparalleled performance of the brew. We had the previous model for over 12 years. Although it still works well we decided to replace with the latest model. Absolutely love it! Dont waste your money on anything other than Technivorm if you to optimize the flavor of your coffee.

Makes fantastic coffee!

This is a game changer from traditional drip makers. The huge positives are awesome flavorful coffee, quick brewing, easy to use, easy to clean parts and small profile (looks great on a counter). The "wish this was better" would be the insulated carafe. I ordered this vs the glass with a hot plate thinking it would be a convenience, but the carafe doesn't keep the coffee acceptably hot for more than an hour or so. This is a fantastic brewer but order the glass carafe version.

Not good coffee

I bought this Moccamaster from SCG about year and half ago. It works great, simple to us and keeps the coffee hot, but I just can't seem to get it to brew good tasting coffee. I have tried fresh ground, pre-ground, so many different brands and have never gotten a good tasting cup. I have followed Technivorm's coffee to water ratio, then even experimented with more or less and still it consistently makes horrible coffee. This is an expensive machine, but I'm getting ready to ditch it for either a Bonavita or OXO. I've been very disappointed in this brand and machine.

Moccamaster KBGT

The Moccamaster is certainly a striking piece of equipment. Makes a good conversation piece besides brewing great coffee. It has taken some time to find the right grind size and right ratio of coffee to water for our tastes but getting pretty close. A number of reviews express that the carafe does not hold heat well. That is not our experience. We remove the brewing tube at the end of the brew cycle and put in the solid lid, giving us very drinkable coffee for 6-7 hours. It definitely helps to preheat the carafe for 15 minutes, or more with hot water. Added bonus of the brewer being much quieter than any other brewer we have owned in 40 years. Definitely not for everyone, but it is a great addition to a kitchen and should brew great coffee for many years.

Best drip coffee maker on the planet

This machine consistently makes the best drip coffee I've had. it has a copper heating element to heat the water and a great pour-over system to brew the coffee. I've had mine for many years, and it works great day after day. I'll never own another drip coffee maker. Do yourself a favor and buy it. You'll be happy that you did.

Don't care for it

Had mine several years now. I have to be honest, I don't care for it. The carafe keeps the coffee warm at best, even with preheating. I've never been able to get a great tasting pot, no I'm not new and have a lot of experience with coffee and gear. I Cuisinart or Capresso has been a better machine than the Techvorum. Just my opinion. Many like it.

Best Coffee Maker Ever

I've had this coffeemaker just about two weeks now and I love it. I have had some many coffeemakers in the past they either broke or the coffee taste terrible . I just love the Moccamaster. I have been making three full pots a day. I bought it cause I read some many good reviews on it and they are the truth. If anybody is on the fence about this coffeemaker just buy it.

Best coffee I've ever had!

Resaerched many coffee makers and the Moccamaster kept getting the best reviews. It's worth the money. Just wish they made a larger size as we have to make a 2nd batch!

No regrets

It's everything you said it would be. It beats the coffee shop where I buy my coffee. Well worth the purchase. The only suggestion I have is the auto off could be a lot shorter since it is a thermal carafe and doesn't need heatingYou sales staff was very helpful with me making a decision thanks again

As good as I hoped

I had reviewed several different coffee makers for 2 years and finally took the leap and bought the Technivorm. The parts are surprising light. The brewed coffee is very good, very hot, and I can definitely tell the difference in the quality of coffee I am drinking now. I love it!

Overall I’m Happy with my Purchase

It makes good coffee and is a fairly quick process. I knocked 1 star off for the issues:-the thermal carafe tends to retain water after rinsing and attempting to dry it in a dish drain rack. Even if left there from 7:30 AM till 7:00 AM the next morning. -its huge -I could be wrong but there is no blooming step involved in brewing coffee with this machine. I misunderstood that it did either have an automated feature or would easily allow me to perform this step. The grinds can be allowed to bloom by heating a tiny bit of water in a kettle while grinding beans and filling the water reservoir to add to the grind basket, or by pulling the carafe out the first time I hear water being deposited on the grinds thus stopping the drip and water pump.Overall happy with my purchase. It brews coffee that tastes noticeable better than my Mr Coffee machine Id been using (even with the exact same beans, grind size, and coffee to water ratio).

I got one for work too!

These are great coffeemakers as far as the performance to make excellent coffee quickly. I had one for home use and then bought another to use at my business. It serves 35 employees and keeps up. I also roast my own beans so the performance of this coffeemaker as far as getting the water hot enough and keeping the coffee itself hot enough is excellent. If I have a complaint it is that there are about 6 different ways to make this machine overflow. To put it bluntly, if you get one of these it is almost guaranteed that you will do that at least once. Very likely more than once. It is a mess when that happens. Hot coffee and grounds everywhere. This is the voice of experience. For my machine at work I just run it inside of a pan. I use a deep cookie sheet.

Marriage of function and form delivers a great cup.

I'm now into my second month of using my Technivorm KBGT741. After just one month I've already done one descaling (Dezcal), so I do about three pots a day. I'm pleased with the quality of the build, although some of the plastic parts could be slightly thicker. The core of the machine is in a sturdy, fluted stainless body that feels substantial. Aesthetically is has a mid-century modern/deco style that nicely marries function and form. I find myself admiring it as I walk past its location on my granite counter top. It's a sexy, scientific looking apparatus. It brews a delicious cup of coffee, at just over 6-minutes when filled to the 12-cup height. The carafe does a good job of heat retention, and the Brew-Thru-Lid works to provide a well-mixed pot. Because I do not have a good automatic burr grinder, I bounce between my Hario, and when lazy, my Krups blade grinder (I know, sacrilegious). I found a Rocky doserless on sale (which is rare) and after twisting for days just pulled the trigger. My biggest nit is the footplate. Because I move the Technivorm to the wall when not in use it must always be replaced in it's grooved slot when it falls out. Alignment can sometimes take a few seconds. Like I said it more of an annoyance, and a small one at that. One strange thing has occurred, on several occasions, I have seen a flicker of light coming from down in the water transfuser tube. It would suggest an electrical short in the heating element. SCG said they'd never heard of that. So now every morning I stand with my cel camera poised, trying to capture the phenomenon on video. With a 5-year warranty, I'm not going to sweat it. I will repost if it's a real problem, but so far the machine is working fine. Should I get electrocuted, my wife has offered to write the post. The folks at Seattle Coffee were friendly and knowledgeable. When they told me, they had a Technivorm in their coffee break room that was a ringing endorsement to my ears. I tend to do a lot of research, and I believe as Techivorm's pragmatically, unattractive manual extols "Congratulations on your purchase of the world's finest filter coffee brewer!" In my opinion, it is just that. I enjoy using it every single day and would highly recommend it.

One of the Best I've Owned

I am always secretly hoping my old coffee maker craps out so I can buy a better one.I read numerous reviews, look at video reviews, I'm such a coffee but I just couldn't wait for my old one to crater, and sprung for the KGBT741.And, I'm glad I did!Simplicity of use, fast brewing time, perfect temperature, brass heating event, tremendous counter appeal -I have probably owned 20+ drip coffee makers over the years, it is at the top of the list.

Worth the money

We have had several nice coffee makers over the years. This one is the best of the best. It is simple to operate. Supply's a fantastic cup of coffee and is extremely well made.

a dutch dream

I had been drinking bizarre tasting coffee from a Cuisinart Grind and Brew for years and decided to splurge and get this coffee machine. Pros: makes great tasting, hot coffee. Cons: It is a larger machine and does have decidedly plastic components. That said, it still feels really sturdy and has performed great so far.I originally looked to buy this at Crate and Barrel for the same price that SCG lists (because I could walk home with it). When you take into consideration ALL THE EXTRAS SCG sends with its product, you essentially are getting $75-$100 in bonus goods, things you would have to buy if you were to go to a big box store and just get the machine itself. Excellent customer focus, SCG. Can't wait to use my gift card toward a proper bean grinder.

Excellent coffee maker

Researched a lot if coffee makers and decided to take the plunge in puchashing this drip coffee maker. I like the smallish footprint and the polished silver look. The brew is quick and very hot. Machine is easy to clean and great looking. Fits under my cabinets easily so no issue with under cabinet storage when not in use. Figuring the right grind and amount has been interesting in getting the right flavor. Overall, would buy this again in a heartbeat! Very happy with the unit.

Great Coffee poor thermal properties

I really enjoy the coffee but found the thermal carafe to not be up to standards. It does not retain the coffee's heat even when you pre-warm the carafe. I have had multiple thermal carafe machines and all out perform this one. The brew system perform quickly and gives a hot cup of coffee. Flavor is great and brew speed is exceptional. If Technivorm would fix the thermal carafe it would be a five star but because of this lack of performance its price to value is only average at best.

Love my machine and coffee

This coffee machine is for people who love a good cup of coffee! The carafe keeps coffee hot, you just have to warm up the caffe first. Once you get use to how the machine works, it performs way better than other machines. You also use less coffee with this machine because the machine brews coffee at the right temperature. My husband is in love with this machine and with the coffee it makes. We cannot go back to old coffeemakers now! Also this machine makes evn the cheapest coffee taste good! I m thinking about getting another one!
