It works perfectly

I have had mine for about 3 years now, and it seems like it’s built like a tank, of simplicity, durability, and functional. I can make coffee at home that tastes just like Starbucks with it. I use the Baratza forte AP grinder.I use a larger cup than supplied, so I use more water and more ground coffee. If your coffee doesn’t taste like your favorite cafe’s with this and their coffee, you either do not have the correct grind, or you do not have the correct amount of coffee grounds. You can also make tea with this machine. Just put loose leaf tea in a coffee filter... works perfectly!Huge IMPORTANT tip: make sure you rinse the filter basket thoroughly before EACH new brew, and that the drip hole allows your sink water to pass through it. If you do not do that EVERY time, then eventually you will brew coffee and find the drip hole clogged, and you’d have to brew another cup. ALSO, make sure your cup is in place, or you’ll have coffee brewed all over the counter. ???????Learn from my mistakes. ??

Practically Perfect With Some Trial & Error

I have been using my Technivorm Moccamaster One-Cup Coffee Maker for about six years. I like it well enough that I bought a second as a back-up in case my original stops working. Why only four stars? Straight out of the gate, I had the not uncommon issue with a clogged basket and annoying hot coffee sludge over-flow. I solved this 75% by drilling the too-small drip hole slightly larger. I gained another 15% success by using a grind that is not too fine. Finally, I make sure the basket is clean and no ground coffee slips between the basket and the filter. Sounds like a lot of bother, but it quickly becomes part of the coffee prep routine, which I do the night before. As I result, I get one very hot, strong cup of coffee each and every morning. I use a Mochamaster #1 filter, two heaping coffee measures, and filtered water, stopping @ 1/4" above the fill-line on the water reservoir. This is what works for me. I especially like that I'm not pouring leftover coffee down the drain, the spent coffee grounds get composted, and no plastic pods are going into the landfill.

the cup-one performs as it promises

very pleased with the cup-one. i wanted to transition away from my cuisinart single cup brewer to eliminate my usage of k-cups. this does the trick. no problems with it as long as you follow the recommendations-wet the filter ahead of time, keep the coffee to 2 level scoops, and be diligent about keeping the hole unclogged and you will be fine! temperature is good, brew time of about 4 minutes is realistic, and coffee tastes great!

Stroke tool

got the one cup because I've had a stroke and it's hard to make coffee. I have a clever, dripper, a. Chemex and a Mocamaster 10 cup. I rated it an 4 star because it does have a problem with clogs. I have had at least a 10% clog rate. It meets my expectations relating to my stroke: it makes just one cup (about 8 ounces) is easier than the other devices in the coffee's as described by Gayle in the Seattle coffee gear video on YouTube .I don't stir or the agitate coffee during the process I do just as directed and is this in good cup of coffee. Not as good as my mokamaster -0 cup, but a lot less work.I would get it again.

Would not buy again

I'm disappointed in the Cup-One. I have a MoccaMaster and love it, use it everyday. But the Cup-One, first off, doesn't make great coffee. I'm not sure I can even call it good coffee. I use the same beans and grind them the same way as for my MoccaMaster and the Cup-One is less flavorful, tastes a bit like plastic (from the tubing, I assume), and requires at least 25% more beans per-cup than my Moccamaster. Also, I was disappointed out of the gate when I realized that it did not come with the pictured cup. I know, who cares about a cup? I have a hundred cups. But I was expecting it. Like I was expecting a really good cup of coffee from this well-rated and highly respected coffee maker company. I have been using this machine for about a month and I will say that I think the plastic taste is dissipating. [Yes, of course, I ran water through it several times before I brewed the first cup.] Also, I will repeat what I saw in several other reviews which is that you need to clean out the hole in the filter after every use. That does seem to help the flavor and speed. But, overall, it's just not as well designed and, I suspect, is not as well made as my old classic Moccamaster. Too bad. This seems to be the way of things. I know sourcing is still a challenge and inflation is bad everywhere - but I also know the price of this machine went up about 20% from a year ago and, based on the reviews I see from that period and prior, the quality of the machine has gone down since then.

Not for me

Unfortunately, I could not get a good tasting cup of coffee from this Cup-One. So, I returned it and just stuck with my pour overs. I was hoping to use this- flip the switch, walk away and come back to a similar tasting cup as a pour over. I felt like it need a little more water capacity. Perhaps I use more coffee than others. Coffee strength is very subjective. With all that being said, it is a beautifully constructed maker and may be perfect for others. I?m now thinking of ordering the KBG Select.

Decent, but could be better.

This coffee maker makes good coffee with a bit of assistance. Ive found that if you let the machine do its thing the coffee strength is weak. However, if you stir the grounds mid-brew it helps get more extraction. The arm that dispenses the water over the grounds is narrow and tunnels the water through the bed of coffee. I feel like if I am spending $200+ on a coffee machine I shouldn't have to assist it to brew. Also, not sure if this machine is SAA approved. In the picture it bears the mark on the brewer, but when I got mine there was no seal of approval. If you go onto the SAA website and look under certified home brewers this machine isn't on the list. Overall, if you like the 1 cup batch size and are willing to manually stir the grounds mid brew, this machine isn't half bad. Its aesthetically pleasing and has a good build quality.

Excellent low maintenance single cup coffee machine

Great coffee, easy to make and clean up. We needed the functionality of our Keurig for single cups but wanted to have actual good, fresh ground coffee. This is perfect. Really solid construction. Everything about the machine is quality. Did not come with the porcelain cup that is pictured so that was disappointing but that doesn't take away from the 5 stars this machine deserves.

Best little coffee maker ever

I’ve been searching for a simple, really good coffee maker for a while now. Most on the market are mediocre at best. I’m no coffee snob but do enjoy a great cup of coffee in the morning as I study and read. I’m happy that I found reviews and resources on this awesome little coffee maker (thank you internet and Seattle Coffee Gear!). It’s the best coffee maker we’ve ever had. Quality machine making a simple great cup of coffee. Highly recommend and recommend Seattle Coffee Gear for their great videos and hands on testing.

Quality Coffee in a One Cup

We have been enjoying great coffee from this manufacturer since our initial purchase in 2009. So happy to see the one cup option. Added it to our coffee making equipment in Dec and have no regrets. I now look forward to enjoying an afternoon cup.

Wonderful

I first saw and used the Moccamaster by Technivorm when visiting my sisters apt in Prague. After using the machine for my 10 day vacation I knew it would suit my families needs. This machine is no fuss no muss - just put the filter in the V cup, measure out 2 scoops of ground coffee, fill the reservoir with 10 oz of filtered water and press the start button. The machine turns off automatically when finished. I sometimes by the Malita #2 filters as the size matches the Moccamaster #1 filters. I also use the Full Circle coffee espresso descaling powder. Before purchasing I read some Amazon reviews that stated that all the grounds do not get saturated with the water, I have not found this to be the case. We are really happy with our purchase and have been using this machine every day for the past 5 months. The one thing I would like would be a metal or ceramic cup to hold the coffee filter and grounds, If possible I would like to avoid pouring hot liquid through plastic.

A good alternative to pods or too much coffee

Still working with brewer to find the right combo of grounds and water. With 10oz of water, 20 gr of finely ground coffee is too weak with a bit of milk. Maybe okay for black. 24 gr works better, but strangely 20 gr and 8 oz of water is even better. Never bitter or sour in any case. I don’t get the initial blast of water and steam shown in many videos that saturates most of the grounds. I do mix the grounds and water at the beginning to improve the starting saturation. I do need to check the water temperature. Should it be 195-205 in the grounds or at the nozzle? I think a modest shower head would be an improvement.

Great coffee maker, excellent service from SCG.

This is a great coffee maker for a one or two person household.Makes very good coffee, built extremely well and has a great warranty. Use the moccamaster filters, they work really well!

Great machine especially at work!

Makes great coffee! Retains the classic Technivorm look and boiler sound. One thing, a drip stop mechanism of some sort would be much appreciated, even if a manual mechanism. Maybe on a future update they’ll add that.

Wonderful

I've been looking for a great one cup coffee maker for a long time. This is the one. You can make a stronger or weaker cup of coffee, to fit your mode and taste. It is quiet and quick. This is the coffee maker I've been looking for, I couldn't be happier with it.Note: For background, I can't stand the K-cup coffee makers and will never understand why the are so popular. So, if you're like me, the Technivorm Cup-One Coffee Maker might be for you.

excellent machine

I drink 2-4 cups of coffee daily - not enough to keep a pot warming. Until I found this system I was spending a lot of time bringing water to ideal temp, using french press, waiting....and rinse and repeat when I wanted a 2nd cup.The Technivorm Cup-One has freed me from all that fuss. It is very simple to set up and produces an exquisitely tasteful single cup of coffee, never bitter, and always hot (200degrees or so). It is beautiful and made like a tank. Now I set it up to go the night before and I have a great cup of coffee first thing just by pressing one button. I bought a burr grinder but am not one of those true coffee nuts who grinds beans for every brew. I grind enough for two days or so at a time. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but how much money have I wasted on bad coffee? I expect this machine to outlive me. Just go for it.

I own a Technivorm Cup-One and love it! I take it with me when travelling. Is there a coffee pot carrier for the Technivorm One-Cup, or one that will accommodate it?

In the crew review Gail indicated it was not as strong as she liked. I like strong coffee as well and new to this method. Any way to make a stronger cup, more coffee, stirring half way, different brand?

Why doesn't this model come with the same shower arm assembly as all of the other models?

Do they make a permanent filter for the cup-one?

How often does it have to be cleaned?

David C.

The manual recommends descaling every 80 uses (1 box of their #1 filter) and cleaning every 2 weeks (if used daily).
