Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Eureka Mignon Specialita grind for drip coffee?

It's built for espresso. It can grind coarser, but for regular drip or pour over, add a brew grinder or choose an all-purpose Baratza Encore ESP.

Does the Specialita grind by time or weight?

By time. The touchscreen lets you program single and double doses or grind continuously, hands-free once started.

How does the Specialita compare to the Silenzio 55?

Both have 55mm burrs and sound-insulated cases. The Specialita adds a touchscreen with programmable single and double doses; the Silenzio uses a simple side timer.

Does the Specialita retain old grounds?

Its wider chute with Eureka's anti-clumping system keeps retention low. Pulse a gram or two when switching beans.

Can I clean the Specialita without losing my setting?

Yes. Bottom-burr adjustment preserves your grind setting when you disassemble the burrs.

What's the warranty?

Really good. I can't think of anything else that I would like different. It's a great design executed perfectly. Fluffy coffee comes out with no clumping.

Eureka Mignon Specialita Review

I bought the Eureka Mignon Specialita to replace my 30-year old (and still running) Mazzer Mini grinder. As seen in the attached photo, I did a 3D print of a single dose funnel/plunger that I downloaded and modified to hold an 18g single dose. As an added benefit, the plunger, besides minimizing popcorning, also serves as a bellow that blows out the roughly 2g that the grinder would normally retain. The very consistent grind results in a beautiful extraction with no channeling at all.

Beautiful great grinder just what I needed

Great grinder I love it and it is easy to use - you can remove the rest on the bottom if you use a Portafilter shield and it is consistent and easy to work. It is also very nice looking! I put a little coffee at a time but it Keep that bit fresh and sealed

Looks great. Is quiet. Feels as though it will last forever.

I replaced a Baratza 270 with this. After a month, here are my thoughts. Pros - much, much quieter than the 270 solid build (heavy) and feels like it will last foreverCons - significantly greater retention than the direct-drop of the Baratza clumpier grind - especially with darker roast (more oily) beans a true mess-maker - unlike the 270, you won't press start and walk away from this one while the shape of the bin is great, the plastic feels cheap relative to the 270's less precisely calibrated adjustment - yes, the worm-gear is nice and quite precise, but the calibration of the dial is lacking vs. the 270 no auto shut-offBut, wow, is it quiet.

Eureka Mignon Specialita Espresso Grinder

This is very good precise machine. Even, consistent, and fluffy grind. Much quieter than any previous prosumer grinder I've had previously. Nice to look at and compact!

Well-built, speedy, and quiet.

After being dialed in, this grinder has exceeded my expectations. The grind timer is easy to set, and can be set to 10ths of a second. I never do single shots, so I have that set at 1.5 seconds to purge old grinds each morning. Grind retention is very low, around a gram, and it does exceedingly well for single-dose grinding. It's also very quiet in comparison to other grinders that I've owned, and the build quality is excellent, there is very little plastic involved except for the bean hopper, that I'm able to see. Super happy with this purchase!

Love it!

The Specialita is the perfect partner to my Lelit Bianca.  I think they may be in love (shhhh-don’t tell anyone).

Quite and great grind range

I replace a Baratza 270W (first release), glad I did.Primary use is pour overs, but it handles all other brewing methods & espresso with easy. The grind is more consistent that the 270 and a larger range than it also. Haven't experience the mess other have mentioned. I'm happy I got the Specialita. SCG shipped it fast and free!

Positively surprised by the finish quality!

Our Baratza Vario decided to break down and repair was not a fast way to get our espresso back quickly so pulled the trigger on this one. It came this morning, that SCG for the fast delivery I realize to late I ordered thru AMZ, next time I'll pay more attention I promise!I am always surprised reviews don't go really into details and here are some info you may not see elsewhere, hopefully they'll help you to decide:- you have about 6 full turns (6 x 360 degree) to adjust. For me that's a better system that the 2 vertical adjusters on the Vario they were always moving while grinding and had to put some gaffer tape.- even if you order the black or red finish, the side are actually in chrome, that really nice!- there is no automatic shut-off (nowhere in the doc) which means you'll need to get a timer or do it manually- the display is bright, we have a HUGE window with lots of California light and it is bright, pair very well with the Ascaso Dream PID display :)- The hopper lid is tight (well it is new), which makes me reconsider to store some beans instead of single dosing- The footprint is extremely small- The fork hold our Dream PID PF very well, without adjustment. It feel a bit unsecure at first, yet it is steady and the delivery of the ground coffee is pure genius when you see it in action- With the same bean, I got far less grind speckle on the countertop vs. Baratza. When the unit came out of the box, there was some static and a soft brush got rid of them- Noise wise: that's very soft and 2 tones below the Baratza, that's a super nice feature for me getting first coffee around 6am while the rest of house is still asleep!- I drink only espresso so will basically never use the touch screen once I have put my settings :) No complain about the resistive, it just works and probably kitchen-proof that way- no weird corner when cleaning, that's really goodMinor improvements I wish to see in the future:- move the power button to the front or automatic power-on maybe- automatic shut off- fork holding with a smoother edges

Very Happy

previously I had a Rancilio Rocky grinder, and this grinder made all the difference in the world in terms of is of the experience of making espresso. Timed dosing works very well, there’s little retention, and the grind is very adjustable. It’s very quiet, and the coffee grounds go right into the Porta filter. Of course the most important thing is that it makes great espresso, but it also makes the process easier and more fun.

Quiet and messy

It is quiet and beautiful but a little messy at the same time, there is something missing to pick it up all that coffee spilled

Power in a quiet package!

Coming from the built in grinder in the Breville Oracle Touch, this grinder is not even in the same league! It’s very fast, doses consistently and cleanly with minimal retention, oh and did I mention how quiet it is?? The Breville would wake up my entire house, but the Specialita keeps everyone sleeping soundly which is a huge win for us. Works just as well for single and timed dosing, I can’t recommend this enough!

It was an excellent choice.

In position 2.5 of the grinder, it gives me the exact grind to prepare a perfect espresso. And as you can see in the photo, it combines very well with my Profitec Pro 500.

This is a great Grinder!

I upgraded from a Breville Smart Grinder Pro and there is no comparison. This is so quiet and the dosing is extremely accurate. I love the look of this grinder. I was going to purchase the Rocket Faustino (to go with my Rocket machine) but I liked the overall look of this better. They are very similar as they are both made by Eureka. This also has a dosing button for the portafilter where the rocket only has the touch screen button. The white on black touchscreen looks amazing and is extremely easy to read. I would not hesitate a second on purchasing this grinder and especially from SCG as they have been one of the best companies I have ever purchased from!

I finally upgraded from Rancilio Rocky which I’ve used for 20 years along with the Silvia. While I’m still very happy with Silvia (a great return on investment BTW), Rocky was becoming temperamental and sticky, and cleaning is a hassle. The Eureka Specialita is dream—quiet, efficient, consistent and more stylish. Worth the investment

Eureka Mignon Specialita -- A High Quality Grinder

First, I only use this for filter coffee. Sure, I could have purchased other Eureka grinders for that purpose but this isn't just for espresso.Once dialed-in, I have found the grinder to be very consistent. Changes of as little as a 1/4 of a tick produce meaningful results. This thing is pretty quiet in use, and the vertical orientation of the burrs means little to no retention after a grind. Nice!Overall, a good choice in my application. I would buy it again.
